Michelin Pilot Road?

Hi.

I was wondering if anyone can give me their opinion on the Michelin Pilot Road tyre?

I am looking for a sports touring tyre for my ZZR600E. I will be keeping the BT021 that I have on the rear though until it wears out. I understand that you're not really supposed to mix tyres but I can't afford two new tyres, and a BT021 costs 103 quid to fit and balance to a loose wheel.

I can get a Michelin Pilot Road on the front for 85 quid. Also, how much grip and durability can I expect from a Pilot road compared to a BT021?

not sure if its really helpful but i have the pilot POWER 2CT (dual compound) on my rear (zx10r), it easily gets to the edge of the tyre and always feels planted.

best of all i have had 4000+ miles out of it.

My Blade has been wearing (geddit?) Pilot Road II rubber since last Autumn. Best tyres I’ve used yet...

...BUT...

... my experience is mostly commuting in all weathers and general bimbling about. For wet grip they’re ace. In the dry they’ve also been great for the way I ride, but you may work your tyres harder than me. These are not track day tyres.

I can’t compare with the 021 cos I’ve not used them. I did have 020s on the Blade before the PR2s and they had nowhere near the grip offered by the Michelins and were horribly unstable once worn.

My vote is PR2. There’s probably better tyres out there, but I’ve not had the pleasure of using them yet.
