Don't know what is dangerous about A581 Rufford to Chorley, I used to live in Rufford and regularly used that road both in the car and on the bike.

I really don't know what criteria is used to compile these lists. The ninth ''most dangerous road'' on the list is the A61 Barnsley-Wakefield road. I have travelled that road every day for the past five years and I have not noticed carnage on a regular basis.
I can recall only three serious incidents over this period of time. One of these occurred 5 years ago and involved a car leaving the road on a bend and hitting a tree whilst the driver was over the drink driving limit. Another occurred 4 years ago and involved a car that was being driven on a straight section of the road in good clear daylight conditions by an elderly woman that inexplicably veered into the path of an on-coming lorry. The third incident occurred 3 years ago and involved a couple who were being spoken to by officers from The West Yorkshire Police Force and were struck by a marked vehicle being driven in the opposite direction by officers from The South Yorkshire Police Force.
I would not regard those accident figures as particularly high.

P.S. Hellkat, The Daily Mail didn't compile the list, they simply reported its findings Wink
