Need help: frame swap or engine swap

Due to a crash leaving my frame in a sorry state. I brought a hornet with a buggered engine to swap out for mine and retested the new bike with my old engine.

My question is would it be better for me to swap my frames instead of the engines? Ie regester my new frame on my old bike. Pros of this is my bikes a year newer, already taxed and insured for a year. Cons are mines a cat D.

Do I need to get a cat d inspected before road use?

bikes are linked to their frame, so if you put your plates on the new frame you have essentially done "bike conversion" you may be able to register that frame, but its probably more effort than its worth

your not going to get as much if your bike is linked to cat d as well
