Hi, don't normally do post like these but here goes...

The GSX left me stranded in the middle of nowhere for almost 2 hours today. Reason being the spark theif struck. Not sure if it is the coils or the Ignition Module.

Anyhow, it has to go. It's getting worse now it is being used more.

The Bandit was recommend by several people and fits my bills.

I have £1200, and need a bike before next Tuesday as I do not want to go to Wales for an an offroad holiday in the work van.


If anyone wants the GSX or fancies a tinker with it, give me a shout. Loads of spares for it and the frame is powder coated.

Try and get a test ride o them if you can, i have a '99 bandit and a mate has a 03 bandit and they bath ride and feel different.

There is a bit more of a reach to the bars on the mk2 as the fuel tank is a little longer and larger, but we both have said that although my mk1 is a little more cramped (we both over 6ft tall ) it is the more comfortable of the two.

You want it, come and get it. £300 as there's several uprated parts (mosfet reg rec, very reliable) tyres, brakes, battery, clocks etc... Chain & Sprockets are serviceable. Can confirm the oil leak has gone since replacing the hoses.

Also getting a new screen for it, £35 and i'm waiting for the centrestand parts from CMS still.

Exhaust is the only bad part on the bike.

Mileage reads 49k, oil change before it did the Wootton Run and much more. It's only done around 1k since then.

I'll be in the back garden replacing the air filter, coils and plugs. My mobile number is in my profile, the part friends can see.


I phoned the person who is selling the red bandit with the dent in the tank. Turns out he is 57, hardly uses the bike and is selling it to get a Harley. Off to see it at 6pm and if it is good, I might consider it.

The one in Manchester is too far, if I get my bike running again.

My courtesy bike is a 2006 Bandit 650.

Whilst it is quasi-comfy, I wouldn't pick to own one due to the terrible vibrations through the foot pegs. (My Dad suffered from this with his 2002 Bandit 12).

That and it's not a very fun engine for when you want to pin it a bit. Sad.

I'm not much of a fast rider and the GSX vibrates through the pegs and handlebars.

Talking of GSX's, I fixed it (I think) Was the right hand coil, it had a weak spark.

You probably want this fazer here:

I had a look in passing the other day, it's just a tad rusty, surface rust though the downpipes look funny. If Kitty can cram 90K on hers this one will last forever.

Though this X reg one costs a bit more

And also has SS pipes which resolves the downpipe problem of the fazers.

I've just done 70 miles on the GSX after fitting a ton of new stuff I found - Iridium Plugs, Air Filter, Main Jets, A coil and some wiring repairs.

What a difference. The old girl flies now, and used just over a gallon of fuel.
