Riding the bike to work, filtering along, this woman in a black beemer X5, suddenly drifts from her lane, up to about an inch away from my left hand side... i sh*t myself, looked at her, she's only texting away on the phone, had no idea I was even there!! Gave a few blips of the throttle and shot off, looked in my side mirror, she was still completely oblivious to the fact i was even there |

I think a very very hard slap on the window would be in order to wake her up. Then a helmet muffled stream of abuse! Educational abuse of course..... ____________________ Mr Pants! (Alex or Al)

I nearly got smeared by a big royal mail 18 wheeler thing. Its on a two lane one way system. And i waited for him to sort out his lane then pulled out into the lane to the right of him, i was behaving and everything. Then suddenly my lane became about a foot wide, and he was still meandering. I thought right fuck this, *down gear, dump clutch and throttle hard* just as he clsed up my lane, then he went back into his.

Ooooo soudsclose... The stupid cow!
It i ware a policeman i would have 0 tollerance for those people. At least you're ok, and your lovely bikes in one piece.
TBO lately ive had loads of those instanaces lately.
Car pulled out on me, on the way to the ace rideout, partly my fault, but still hers.
On the way back from that meet, i was on dual carrigeway, and some pratt changes from center to left lane pretty much as soon as i had joined from. the slip road. He didnt look, im pretty sure about that. I beeped. It was on the way to McDonalds...
On south mimms roundabout, guy was coming on from the petrol station, just kept on moving out, nearly hit me. i was in the left lane.
I had to dodge the first lady, the second guy i had to move over to the left side of my lane, and open the throttle to blast away.
The 3rd guy at S. Mimms was very close, i guess i dodged a bit, but that could easily have been an off.
I would recomed to you, to practice counter-steering. This is really effective for dodging really quickely. I used it for the first lady .Saved my bike, and a few injuries...
That and maybey a few emergency stops to get used to your new bike and it's brakes.

There's an interesting article in this months Bike mag about left hand bends, think it was left handers anyway. They filmed a left hand corner and something like 60% of the cars, trucks, etc that came round it were half of the way into the opposite lane.
In fact whilst they were putting the article together one of their staff members had to ride his bike off the road and into a field to avoid a car coming around a corner in his lane.
They presented the evidence to the local constabulary who are now monitoring the same corner. This has also been presented to one of the forces accident investigators who is himself a biker. It may well have implications for accidents where a rider has seemingly left the road and crashed. This type of accident has been put down to rider error in the past, but now it seems like a good percentage could be down to the rider having to alter line/take avoiding action mid corner and loosing control. I think that's more or less the gist of the article but I don't have it with me at the moment, perhaps someone can fill in more details?
It's all too common an occurrence on the country roads I ride on a regular basis. Being leant over for a corner and nearly having my head taken off, or having to pick the bike back up because some dick thinks they can take the racing line or has completely over cooked it. |

Typical ! Just proves the point about BMW's, and mobile phones.
If it had been worse and I had had to go and pick up the pieces like last time, I would have pressed the police to do her for reckless or dangerous driving - three months in Holloway would take the shine off her life! ____________________ Using a mobile phone while driving a car should be made a capital offence! |

Yeah, that's right. You obviously know your stuff! I never do anything when I go into work, just sit around waiting to go home |
So i take it your police then? I am hoping to join the police after uni. However bottom line is, the polices powers are very limited. After an accident you cant say, she was on the mobile ipso facto, book her.
They would have to badger a list of calls and times off of the service operator and she could say it was just prior to the incident/just after. Also she is invariably of clean record, first offence, most she could get is a fine. Especially if you 'just' come off and break the bike a bit. Its retarded i know. But its what is reality. No one bothers to report anything anymore cos for the hassle you know you wont get any results.
That said i still want to join, i just expect much depressing hypocrisy. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Good career choice
Just get used to people saying that you don't do anything when you actually work really hard and do your most to help people. Very annoying and even upsetting at times.
You're right. The result of many investigations will come to nothing and many offenders go unpunished. That doesn't mean the police 'do nothing'. You'll see, you wait ____________________ Don't do as I do, do as I say! |

If there was no damage or injury as a result of the 'offenders' driving, then there is obviously little or no chance of the incident being investigated. If you immediatley reported the driver to the police saying that her driving was dangerous and/or erratic then it is likely that the control room will put out 'observations' on the radio for the vehicle to be stop-checked if seen. There will also be a marker flagged-up by PNC if she is checked in the future as well.
Make sure you get the registration number and direction of travel as well as vehicle type and colour ____________________ Don't do as I do, do as I say! |

Just get a few beers down him at lunchtime I'm sure he can be persuaded.
Oh and the idea was something along the lines of Magnum force but not on Harleys. In fact it was using Brownings, I thought of "Browning force" then reconsidered, thought it might attract the wrong kind of members. |
