Speed Cameras: How to defend yourself document

When I first got caught speeding a few months ago, I was going to use a speeding solicitor but couldn't justify the £600 - £1200 fee it was going to cost me.

So, instead, he had some documents on his site that you could buy for £5.99 to represent yourself in speeding cases. It's a 23 page document telling you all the things to look out for, ask questions etc etc.

I'm not going down the not guilty route, I thought, fuck it, I'll just take what happens but this will be of interest to people on here, some interesting stuff in there!

The control room for the relevant force keeps records of which radio is logged onto which channel at any one time.

The Airwave systems don't work like classic walkie talkies, but more like internet radio or VOIP.

They can tell if some silly sod takes his radio home and lulls himself to sleep with the soothing sounds of his OCU going to rat-shit, so they should be able to print out a certain officer's radio usage for the material time.

Just send off a disclosure request explaining why it is relevant - they have to comply, or give a valid reason why they don't - which you'll be able to pick apart in court.

It also mentions was the camera van parked half on / half off the pavement. Did they get permission from the highways authority to do this?

Which was interesting because the van that got me was parked half on, half off and I took a picture of it.

Although this doc only covers the laser gun things, still some interesting loopholes.

what device do the motorway bikes have to measure speed?as my mate was chased at over 100 pulled over then issued a verbal NIP. how do they prove he was doing that speed? and how can they prove that he even gave the verbal NIP properly as he had to rush off to an accident, so it may be a get out there?

in adition to this, his DOB and middle name where wrong on the letter

The officers word is usually enough for that sort of thing.
With regards to the speed - Traffic (and Area) cars/bikes tend to have calibrated speedos. An MG11 statement detailing your speed from the officer in question would usually be enough if he makes it detailed enough.

The law generally allows for minor typos on paperwork, as long as the officer can convince the court that it was actually the defendant he stopped on the day.

cheers for your input, but that doc says that the officer needs a method of verifying it..... in the case of that doc it is a fully calibrated cam and his opinion! in this case its his word against yours?
