Crying or Very sad

Got caught out on some gravel earlier ... front went, foot in toe-clip so no chance of foot down (playing with mobile in one hand - so little bar control) and down I went!! Sad

Stings a bit and it was only at ~5mph .... got me thinkin' about coming off a motorbike bike in a pair of shorts!! Shocked

You mean the peddles with special shoes that clip directly into peddles?? ... that is all very well and good unless you want to actually do something/walk anywhere when you get to your destination and don't have a rucksack full of shoes!!! Wink

Yeah, mine was at ~5mph ... they AVERAGE what 25-30?? Thinking ... some of the injuries they get there look really nasty!! Shocked

Yup, they're the ones that clip in to the pedals. I find them quite good for walking around in shops and other places, because of the metal cleat on the sole they make a noise every time you put your foot on the floor so walking around on a hard floor makes a click click click click noise.

It sounds slightly dangerous to have your shoes attached to the bike but SPD pedals are a lot safer than V12 type pedals.

Toe clips have the disadvantage that you're not able to get your foot down quickly if necessary but they don't offer as much benefit in pedaling as SPD pedals (and the shoes) do.

I've got cycle shoes that are sort of trainer/low hike boot style, and the cleats are recessed into the (chunky) sole. No need for anything else, but a bit warm in this weather!

I've got some Shimano mountain bike shoes and they're the same, easy enough to walk in (if you don't mind the tap dance esque noise it makes on hard surfaces)

Just look for a set of mountain bike SPD's, can usually be walked in fine, not as stiff as road shoes, but so much more convenient.

V12's are nasty, i've 'shinned' myself many a time in my early days of downhilling.
In my opinion its worse than falling off and grazing all your leg, those pedal studs go deep and rip a nice big bloody line up your shin, absolutely kanes!
