Not sure about this. I know the RD125 twin tank fits the RXS because I tried it once LOL Not much help, sorry.
RXS seats are hard to come by these days, because the bases just rust away no matter how much effort you make (layers of Hammerite and ACF50 count for nothing ). But you could bungee a Fizzy seat to the frame if necessary, so long as it wasn't bearing down on anything important, like the CDI. Short term bodge, obviously.
Talking about this reminded me of the time a mate tied two pillows to his MZ after the seat fell to bits Did the job, but a nightmare in the rain ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

I think the MZ guy put his pillows in a couple of heavy duty rubbish bags in the wet (seriously) The local breaker laughed so much when he appeared on the pillow bike that he gave him an old seat for nothing Cover was ripped, but some gaffa tape and black bags soon had it waterproof.
This is the kind of fun the wealthy will never experience
Regarding possible replacements - nothing doing. Looked all over. My current seat base has most of the spikes gone, but enough sound metal remained for me to put some self tapping screws in at strategic points for the cover to fix to. Works reasonably well. Better than cushions/pillows ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

Did they even make a fizzy 100? I know they made a YB100 about the same time and the engine would fit a fizzy. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Given a pattern it would be a relatively simple thing to have one or several copies manufactured. It's not as if it's a complicated part - bit of tin-bashing, some foam and a seat cover and there you go. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

0.5mm is too thin - you'd need 18 or 20 gauge at least. I'd make the pattern from MDF and lay the sheet over the top, bash down the edges and trim. Flat-tray bases would be easy to make but some are quite sculpted to give clearance and make them more rigid. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Point kick was making is that decent FSIE parts are desirable & usually expensive.
DONT butcher a decent FS1E seat base, its worth money!
stick it on e-bay!
Use proceeds to find a better nic RSX seat on e-bay!
Or use another botch.
MDF, grp, or as suggested some hammer & dolly work on tin or ali to make up a more 'authentic' pattern eplacement!
More imaginitively, without so much dexterouse craft work....
After-Market body-work.
Race Plastic, or 'custom' parts from the catalogues!
Or even some scoring the breakers!
I mean.... find an Aprillia 50 with bent forks & dead engine, nick the tank & tail unit, wrap them round your rails for a street-fighter look, by reverse adaptation!
ANYTHING is possible.... bu 1st port of call would be a car body-shop...... see if any-one can apply a bit of mig or bronze and a few patches to make your old base sound for a bit of beer money! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

There was an RXS seat on ebay for £60. There was something about it I didn't like, though. Can't remember what now. Probably the seller said it had a rusty base ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

| cb1rocket wrote: | Any suggestions for the mould? I have been thinking of casting the original out of a smooth concrete mix - like the one where you just add water and the whole mix just hardens - saw a bag of one at the bottom of the garden that was dumped by the previous tenants and i mean its in the shape of the bag it came out of! |
Are we talking GRP here?
Yeah, had that idea a few times and for varouse different projects tried all sorts, from cement to plastser of paris.
Trouble with concrete, plast or paris, patch plastser, even poly-filler is how pourouse they are.
You get the form into the stuff, struggle to get your 'pattern' (original part!) out of it... then pain the mould with resin, and it soaks in........
Artists Clay
The 'propper' way of doing it, as all the instructionals we got in man'f-tek, is to use a 'slip'.... liquid clay, to dip your pattern in or paunt on, allow to harden, then you build up with more plastic artists clay.... allow to harden, THEN back with P.of.P to support teh shape.... 'fire' the mould to set it hard, and then if its a re-use mould glaze, if not start laying up in it.
Improvising with variouse substances, went round my aunt's who's an Art teacher..... got some 'self-setting' clay. its like propper clay but got like a grp resin in it, so it self hardens......
Used that to make the mold, let it set (cured it with a blow lamp!)
Layed up GRP resin in it..... broke the clay off when I had mi bit.
Not cheap at the art-shop though.......
But it IS cheaper than car body filler which was the next idea.... and proved pourus too!
And try as I might with GRP resin and poly-filler, I couldn't get anything resembling the self-set artists clay......
If you have a large area like a seat base, a £5 block from hobbykraft or whatever, would probably cover it with a thin 'skim' to get the shape, you could cure and back with P.of.P or ploy-filler, or cement to hold & support the shape, tho'. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
