Hi everyone,
I've got a Kawasaki GPZ400r which I am currently in the process of restoring. I've recently come accross an annoying problem, the 1st cylinder just does not fire anymore! The problem started after I sprayed some Carb Cleaner into the 4 cylinders, and after that it does simply not work. All the other carbs are fine, and prior to me spraying carb cleaner, cylinder 1 was working fine as well!
I have checked the spark plug and it is firing ok, and I have also sprayed in some Bradex Engine Start in order to assist it, but it is still of no use. I'm assuming that the only reason it is not firing is because fuel must not be reaching it, but the 1st cylinder does not have a fuel line entering the carb directly, instead the fuel line enters at the 2nd cylinder and they must be sharing the fuel lol or something....
Please provide me with your infinite wisdom people!
Thankyou....

On the bottom of the carb for cylinder one there should be a drain screw. Get something to catch any fuel and open it up to check fuel is going to the carb.

Does the cylinder start working when you spray the easystart into carb one?

Well I'd guess your answering your own question as in you need to find out whats changed since spraying the carbs etc.

try a few other things first though

1 swap number 1 and 2 plugs around..if number 1 runs and number 2 dont..then you'd fouled a plug...easy fix

2, If that makes no difference then pour a small amount of fuel into the bore thru the plug hole..a teaspoons worth is all you need..if it then runs on all 4 then fuel starvation is the problem..sometimes just getting the cylinder to fire can help get it running again

3, strip the carbs time..you already know it's not a coil issue or it would be running on 2

4 most unlikely as it was running on 4 before..but if still no joy..check your compression on that cylinder

at the end of the day if you remember....so long as you have the right amount of fuel, compression and a correctly timed spark..it WILL run
