CBT Nightmare

Hey all, took my CBT two weeks ago but have only just brought myself to talk about it after reading some other posts on the subject.

The day started quite well with myself and two others doing CBT, a young lady - having some bike knowledge and driving knowledge, and another young chap with some driving experience. I have never ridden a motorbike before and have only had a handful of driving lessons about 8 months ago so I'm the odd one out!!

Anyway, we all had geared and started doing the usual 'round in an oval shape' then moved into doing the same but into 2nd gear.

I could control the throttle/bike alot easier in 2nd than I could in 1st.

Then we started on the Fig 8's and left/right turns, this again went really well especially on the left turns, I felt so comfortable that I was accelerating out of the turn with no fear.

U-turns next and the instructor said that I 'had it down' after the 2nd one so very pleased with myself.

Break for lunch and go through the highway code with the aid of a childs play table - the ones to play with cars etc on that had a road design on it.

Prep for the road ride and I felt at ease by this point however still a little anxious, this is where things started going wrong for me.

I made a few stupid mistakes that weren't very dangerous, just clumsy of me but then I did make a potentially dangerous move by pulling out at a STOP junction without slowing!!! D'OH

By the time we got back to the 'office' I had such a banging headache from a) the heat and b) all the info I tried to take in.

Still had about two hours left but I asked if I could come back another day cos I couldn't concentrate, no probs they said but still going to charge me an extra £60!!

Thinks its time to go and practice somewhere....any LEGAL Suggestions???

£60 is a bit steep since you only need to go out on the road for a couple of hours at most. Not much you can do about it to be honest.
Legally the only place you can ride is private land. If you can find a trading estate without any units open you should be ok to use their car parks but officially you could still get done for it.

I don't think its bike control that you seem to have a problem with. I think its the pressure of being in traffic.

i had a right head ache during my cbt and it pissed it down,but i continued and passed

Marki, I think you may be right, doesn't help that the first place we went was up a bloody great hill and I stalled it (gear too high cos I kicked it up by accident and could/didn't change down quick enough)
that didn't bother me, what bothered me was that I was directly infront of a bloody big hairy Biker on a Harley!!!!

Be grateful it wasn't a great big hairy lorry.

I always tell students to relax, you have as much right on the road as any other user, just do what feels safe to you. If the instructor is half decent then he will be looking out for you.
