I commute on a road racing bike and I've been at an almost competitive level for a few years. It's something I'd love to do, but hats off to those guys, I don't think I'd ever have the stamina for it!

ITV4 you say?
I'll make sure I keep tuned for the rest of it.

From all accounts the 1st 3days and the last 3days are real testers. i.e where the tour can be won and lost. (Armstrong and Contador concur)
Watched it avidly for the past 5yrs or so and still impressed with the skiills and them thriving on pain.

Big cycling fan here. Ride about 150 miles a week and compete in a time trial league.

Love the tour de France, but the Giro was awesome this year and the tour will do well to be half as exciting.

Bad judgement from Wiggins today, ending what should have been one his stronger disciplines about 45 seconds down his competition isn't a good start. Great ride by Armstrong, and wondering where Cancellara is hiding his batteries!

I have not ridden a peddler in anger since I was a teenager.
And never really been 'into' pushbikes, other than they made sure I could get to the Tinney sisters house when their father was out!

But: I have always watched the Tour ... and especially over the past 15 years or so.... I love the BBC commentator ... cant remember his name, but he really drags me into the whole thing.
Love the drama... the pain... the madness of it all... and especially the culture' .... even the terms are great:
The 'Domestiques' Smile
ie: you do everything you can and kill yourself to make sure the main man/best rider can win/has an easier ride. Thumbs Up
Love it.

Can't really see how the 1st 3 days count - they're all relatively flat. So stage 2 is a bit lumpy, but nothing major.

I do totally love the tour tho - will be watching it live at work, every. fucking. day. Cool

^^^Just repeating what was said.

I watch it on Eurosplurge, so will hear the words '100%' and 'Pushing' far too many times.

Hey, Lance is looking lean n ripped.....will he last?

Hope so, eight tours Shocked Shocked

Loved it since the days of Eddy Merckx, and I never thought anyone could better Big Mig.

Soured it a little today with the usual crap allegations about Armstrong though.

Lots of cobbles on Stage 3! Anything can happen with a field the size of the TdF on those roads.

Stephen Roche also said the 1st few days will be worrying for the top riders, what with nerves and 'not liking to race in the low countries.'

Prepare for crashes.

Yeah Evans is hatefull.

For the record - I don't mind the controls. Part of the game. Test me anytime, anywhere, result will always be the same, nothing to find.

Anyone who loves 2 wheels, motorized or pedal powered should be able to appreciate this amazing descent from Cancellara

I confess to having almost no interest in the race itself, but do enjoy watching the coverage purely for the scenery.

Some of the roads especially the mountain stages are familiar to me and it's *almost* like riding them again to watch the bike cam coverage.

Will most probably camp on the Col de La Madeline then head off after they pass through.
