Feet Positioning when riding?

Hey all,

Just a quick question;

What is the correct foot positioning for both sides?

Should my right foot always cover the rear brake lever?

Ball of foot on peg moving it as and when i need to change gear. Don't use back brake much.

Middle of foot with feet sticking out for normal riding. More 'spirited' riding toes on the pegs to keep my feet out of the way.

Correct position is the front part of your foot on the pegs. Toes should not be near or covering anything. Sometimes you see people who point their toes out away from the levers this too is wrong as too much lean angle and your foot is in the road. A guy i know rides like this and claims to be good at corners as he has ground the toes off his boots due to his 'sick' lean angles

Depends what type of riding im doing. Plodding about then centre of foot is on rests for an easy pivot to apply the rear brake or to shift.

When 'spirited' riding (which is more often) then its toes on the pegs otherwise lots of toe dragging occurs which my boots and my sphincter dont enjoy.

Motorways and lazy riding then whatever is comfy.
Twisties, then ball of foot on peg. If it's a blind corner i sometimes cover the rear.
Slow moving town traffic i cover the rear.

Slighty OT. But i use both brakes most of the time. Makes me feel settled. Maybe goes back to my pushbike days [shrug]

Balls of the feet on pegs.

A personal pet hate of mine is to see 'Chaplin' feet on other riders, it just makes me wince when i think of their foot catching on the road and all the possible mangling that may result.

There is only one position , ball of the feet on the pegs as that way you keep your feet out of the way and can use pressure better to aid steering.

Riding covering a back brake... hmmm yeah seem loads of people do this over many years and you can usually tell by the permanently lit brake light!

Balls, but don't hold your right one tense, try to relax it... but make sure you don't let it rest on the rear brake, I once went a long way during my DAS lessons with a very, very minor amount of pressure on it (just enough to make the light come on, really) but I haven't done that since.

Only cover when you think you might need it...

In my year of riding i've always ridden with middle of feet on pegs (Duckfeet lol ) Always keep my left foot wedged under the gear change.

In fact, thinking back to my first 'off', it was just aswell i was going slow otherwise it would've been my foot that bent the brake lever, not the tarmac on the road

Around town I'll cover the rear brake when I think it's necessary (i.e a road with plenty of adjoining roads) .

On twisties or fast riding I try and avoid covering the rear brake. If you NEED to use the rear brake you still can, but if you get into a bit of bother and you have your foot covering the rear brake you will press it (and probably lock it up), which is not always the right thing to do. A fast speed lock up is much less controllable than a town riding situation.

Took a pic today of my 'strip ... (the first pic was taken during the winter) I went for a hoon with Boundy off here the other week - so that is as good as it gets for me - and I still have a rather healthy C-Strip ...

Oh and just to make it clear, I too am ball on inner foot when 'trying' i.e. not in NORMAL riding mode.

But I have never had a problem with my chicken feet
