Legalise Tinted Visors... Add Your Views

Most of us have heard about the Government's website which allows the public to suggest which laws should be repealed. I came across the following topic, campaigning to legalise tinted visors, which I think would make a lot of sense.

Whether the Government will listen is another question, but don't ask, don't get!

Of course it should be repealed, it's an incredulous law.

How they expect it to be 'safer' when I am squinting through a clear visor compared to wide-open eyes with a sunstrip on the top of my iridium tinted visor is beyond me.

Especially when I can wear super dark sunglasses when I'm riding? .

Whilst I understand it is for when you have to ride in the dark (as vision is severely impaired) it is a little silly, just ride with the visor open!

Although I've never heard of anyone be done for having a tinted visor.. .

I thought it was actually guidelines rather than law

i saw on traffic cops or similar a ped boi pulled over at night with tinted visor and got away with just a telling off.

Just wear sunglasses. Problem solved. Unless of course it's about posing, then you'll still want your black visor.

Never been bothered whilst wearing a tinted visor (despite being pulled for other offences quite often), so I really don't think it'd make much difference if the law was repealed. I've never heard of anyone being done for a tinted visor (I appreciate some might of been done but I imagine it's a very. very low percentage of wearers).

It is a stupid law (as it's often safer to ride with a tinted visor IMO), but there are many laws 10x dafter that are never enforced either.

if they make those legal. they will have to let all the bad boy racers have their tints and how would the goverment make money then? lol

alot.... i was pulled over the other day in my mates evo and he had to pull them off at the side of the oad or a fine...

My visor is very tinted (dark smoke) and has a note on saying:

If worn, for daytime use only - so I used to swap it for clear once the street lights came on/sun set.

Hi

No you do not need a visor (although it could be argued that if you don't then if you are wearing shades / normal glasses then these are eye protection and must comply with the regulations for visors). The police can fine you for a non compliant visor (just most don't bother, seems to normally be reserved for it the rider or the copper are an arse).

As to "Daytime Use Only", not really any legal meaning in the UK just the makers covering themselves. If it doesn't have the required markings (to show that it lets through enough light, is impact resistant, scratch resistant, etc) then it is illegal.

Speaking of tinted visors, where can I buy a decent one.

Quite like the black ones that are like 1 way mirrored?

i have one and swear by it. mind u tinted visors do look fecking cool

i think the law is stupid but there ya go, the countrys bloody mad anyway
