A little Dilemna!

Hi all, I'm new to this so bear with me!

After owning a little CBR 125 for a year when I was 17 I was hit by a white van (bastards!) and it was bye bye motorbike.

After 2 years I fancy getting back into it again with a view to do my DAS when I turn 21. I renewed by CBT yesterday and now have a measly budget to get myself a little everyday hack.

I dont really care about looks, although i need to bear in mind I'm 5'11 and 17.5 stone (rugby does strange things to you) so need something that i wont look like im having my way with it.

I'm looking at the Yamaha sr 125 and Suzuki GN 125. I've found an R reg SR for £550 which looks to be in ok condition although is just a trade in that the bloke wants rid of.

I've also found a GN 125 for £400, which looks to be in better condition, but just needs an MOT and tax sticking on it as the owner moved onto a bigger bike.

Anyone have any input / experience in which way to go?

I've just starting commuting to Ealing from Epsom 3 days a week so the fastest I will ever need to do is 50 for only short periods so I just want reliability and the freedom! I'm not one of these chavvys that want 200mph out of my 125!

Erm best bet for you is a 125 4 stroke, Thumbs Up

I've heard that the Honda CG 125 and Yamaha YBR are very good economically and for reliablilty, and make great commuters!

Ive just got a Honda xr 125 and can wait to go collect it =]

What you really want, and deep down you know this, is a 125 2 stroke. They are the dogs dangly bits, they smell lush and they are fast as frisbeeeeeeeeeee.

I suggest an Nsr they are awesome and I love mine. CG's are tooooooo slow and you will get bored of it eventually.

Yea if i was going to buy it for speed but to be honest the noise does my head in, theyre more expensive on petrol and they arent as reliable!

Apart from that though, they're great Cool

I'd recommend a yamaha rxs100. They're brilliant.
Cheap to buy,
cheap to insure,
cheap to run.
They're fast aswell. Thumbs Up

I was in the same position last year, now passed my test.

I bought a 2005 Baimo Renegade dodgy Chinese bike for £200, spent £70 on a new engine and I've just had a great years fun riding it about.

I had a Yammy SR125 as my first bike. Once I'd passed my test I used to pillion my daughter on it occasionally at a combined weight of around 18 stone. It was a little slow uphill then, but was mostly good to go Smile

I'm 5ft 4'' so can't comment whether you would be too tall for it.
