Whats up, brap brap, howdy y'all, how do you do.

Considering me first tattoo soon - probably as Winter sets in. Wanted to give myself plenty of time to make sure everything about it sits nicely in my 'content and happy' bank before I splash the cash.

Not an advice thread or anything really, more general discussion.

Got a tat? What is it? What does it mean to you?

Bad experiences?

Awesome experiences?

Regrets?

I've started doodling in a notepad ideas and such, and I'm quite enjoying even the simple process of throwing things together, reaching back for memories that mean a lot to me and peicing them together into something that is meaningful, but ultimately (and more importantly) looks fuckin' A.

Wink Thumbs Up

I'll maybe upload a few ideas later, but anyone looking at tat ideas? Throw images around in this thread, Im always looking for inspiration. I'm like 100% certain I want a custom however - unique blah blah etc.

Quite anticipatory (in a good way) about the feeling tbh - I dont mind a bit of pain, gets the ol' ticker going.

Sit there for a couple of hours going over your abdomen/hip/ripcage and honestly try repeating the sentence.

I've got 2, panther on my right bicep and mum in Chinese on my left wrist. Got the panther purely because i'd wanted one for years lol, the mum tatoo the same reason and the normal off the wall mum tatoos were either corny or purely crap lol so i thought i'd get something a bit different. Although now i wish i had got it done on my leg or some where besides my wrist (looks a bit daft). At some point i'll get it covered with something big on my forearm (not 100% sure what to get yet) and move it onto my leg.

If you have'nt already got your tat-artist in mind, then do as much homework on him/her as what you want done!!

Some are artists, some are artits!

best to speak with people & ask where/who done their's if you like what they've had done...remember loads of the photo's in tat shops are'nt !!!! done by them!.So what you see & what you actually get can look very different.

l know a chic with a pretty good'un on her back, it's meant to be vertical - but it leans to the right 'bout 1 o'clock direction.
Permanent school boy error!! Thumbs Up Karma

Here's mine

https://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g227/munchies121/Tattoo.jpg

The other wing's been finished now and it's all healed up. This is my first and coped with it fine, some part's where unpleasent but that's to be expected. Got it done at a place called 'logan's cave', went there purely on my own research and seeing his work on his website.

The few people i know with tattoo's aren't fantastic in my opinion, so i wanted to avoid those artists and go to someone who knew what they were doing.

meaning: Rise from the ashes. (Phoenix)

I mainly just wanted a tattoo and this one took my fancy. Planning my next already Thumbs Up

Do not do what I did, I wanted a tattoo with a certain artist but he was fully booked for the next year and a half. I decided fuck it and went to the nearest tattoo 'artist' and got it done there and then. Biiiiig mistake. He was a wanker and the tattoo isn't of the best quality.

My girlfriend then went to the tattoist that I originally wanted and he done some awesome ink on her. I have since found out the place I went has a dodgy reputation. He was caught using none tattoo inks in his tattoos and dodgy needles aswell.

Regrets?

I decided at the age of 15 to get a tattoo .. as my mate had a wicked panther on his arm.
On the recommendation of a good mate I set off to Londinium (from my country village), where one of the UK's best tattoo artists plied his trade.
Picked an image off the wall that looked great in line form ... of a lion with a flowing mane, and with incredible detail in the fur.
Pain was ok ... no more than someone burning your arm with a cigarette.

Regrets / Lesson Learnt ? Not too many ... other than the following:
1) Dont wander in to get a tattoo and pick one off the wall .... Think about it a lot in advance.
2) Make sure your 'legendary' artist (Barry Louvaine) didnt establish his status 57 yrs ago with the mods and rockers.
3) Make sure that the said 'legend' is not half cut and clearly holding a grudge that the good old days had gone.
4) Do not assume that the line drawing will still look great when coloured in.
5) Going back to point 1 ... research your tattoo... think about it a lot .... do NOT, under any circumstances, unknowingly walk out with a Chelsea Headhunters tattoo.

I had to leave a bandage on it for a few days... so didnt see it for a while.
The moment I took it off I hated it Sad joy Smile

He had coloured it in terribly ... ruining the whole thing.
The eyes of the lion look like a frogs.
And I support Arsenal.

Cheers Barry Thumbs Up

Not got a pic of the tattoo, or have you had it removed?

(How long have you had the custom title? Laughing )

Not had it removed ... and I am too embarrassed to publish a pic of it.
Which goes to show how bad it must be, given that I am happy to post pics of me with a monobrow and scruffy beard etc.

Custom title ... I think about a week.
I was awarded it due to my significant and well received contributions to the SE section.
It was nice to be recognised and praised ... so much love. Wub

To be honust though mate I have seen some fucking horrible tattoos done by some really fucking good tattoo artists it's just the luck of the draw. All it takes is for the tattooist to hiccup or sneeze unexpectedly and it's all gone uber wrong.
