Riding a 125cc - with full car licence for 20 yrs

After all these years the wife has decided she wants to see what its like to ride her own bike. She passed her car test about 20yrs ago so I have a few questions.

Does she have to do a CBT
Can she ride without L plates
Can she carry a pillion.
Does she have to do more training after 2 years

I noticed another thread about this but that was for a 50cc moped.
Ultimately she would love to take her test eventually and get a 600cc bike but first things first, she might not get on with it

She has an entitlement to ride a 125cc bike on the same terms as a 17 year old on a provisional. must display L plates, and cannot carry a pillion.

She doesnt have to do a cbt though as she got her liscence before feb 2001.

She does have to do a CBT, passing your car test before feb 2001 only entitles you to ride a moped, i.e. 50cc.

Wrong. She needs to check that her license has a provisional motorcycle entitlement, and then she needs to do a CBT. She has to ride with L plates, and she cannot take a pillion until she does her full motorcycle test. She also cannot use motorways.

Even if she could simply ride a 125 on L plates without doing the CBT. Do you not think that the cost of doing one to get some decent training is not worth it Karma

It will give her a idea if she will like it, before you go and splash even more cash on a bike and give her the basic idea of riding a bike to start with.

I'm trying to purswade my daughter to take the CBT even though she has no interest in riding her own bike, purely to give her a idea on road safety for bikers as she is learning to drive.
She does have a good idea on making life safer for bikers as it is Mr. Green

Yes I totally agree,I would want her to have some training anyway. I wasnt sure if i could buy her a bike, give her some training myself to get her started.
