Help needed leather gear wanted where to buy ? i have a small budget want nice stuff cheap do you know a real cheap site on the web for me to have a look at ? i need jeans and jacket only i'm a big bloke so will need size 40" wast and xxxl jacket thank you Dave... Thumbs Up

Best place to get cheap bike gear is at one of the big BMF or MAG rallies or at one of the National Bike shows.

My mate got a good quality set of named brand, 2-piece, zip together leathers for 140 quid and a type-A laser helmet for fifty at Stormin the Castle. I got an Arai lid for 150 at the scottish bike show. If you are, as some of the replies suggest, larger than average then you will do even better as most of the stalls are selling left over stock from the previous year. These tend to be in the smaller and larger sizes.

I would also add that I think it is a bad idea to buy bike gear 'online'. This is safety equipment and it is important that it fits properly, eg If the elbow armour isn't over your elbow then what is the point in having it, the only way to check this is to try them on. The sizes stated in the labels of leathers could best be described as 'completley random', my jacket claims to be a 52" chest but is closer to 40".

being big boned myself ( or undertall if you like) i have found J&S good,( possibly one near you) but buy leather at the end of our "Summer" and waterproofs at end of winter (sept to july in england) look for the sales.
i personnally find leather jeans textile jacket works best
if not in a rush BMF show or similar

Agreed. After a 70mph high-side in the leather jean/cordura jacket combo. The leathers offer very good abrasion resistance but you slide too damned fast. The cordura grips the road and stops you before you hit something. There is generally a lot more armour in the cordura ones and they are warm and waterproof in winter. I find textile trousers a bit too bulky for climbing about on my supermoto but Hein Gericke do some real nice hybrid trousers in their touareg range. They will be the next set of bike jeans I buy.

bought heni gericke trousers and jacket leather but was prcy 180 for jacket and 130 for trousers (leather ) thanks guys

Not much help I know. But at the BMF bikeshow at Kelso today, Hein Gericke were selling off all their returned/slightly imperfect stock (often for such things as a mark in the leather or a missing pop-stud, they were labelled with the reason for return).

Jackets from 30 quid, trousers from 25, boots from 20. Bargains galore!

I can't think of anything worse than buying clothes for my lower half online...I wish I could but it would be a very silly idea. Last time I went shopping to get some leathers I tried on about 10 pairs ranging in size and no luck!

Dave - it's definitely worth paying more for some decent leathers, £95 sounds quite reasonable to me.
