Hello all,

My 1990 ZZR 400 has just gone back on the road after being stored for almost 10 years. It was imported in 1999 and the importer unfortunately died before it could be registered, so it was just stored.
Before I put it on the road I changed the oil and filter and what came out was best described as horrible brown water.

I've refilled with 10/40 Motorcycle oil from Halfords and have ridden 500 kms without any issue. The oil has started to take on a very slight brown colour through the spy-glass, no doubt due to the new oil mixing with what was left of the watery crap.

How long should I leave the oil before performing another change ?

I would have changed the oil again after a good ride that got it nice and hot.

I would get some cheap oil and give it a couple of changes after ride outs.
Then change the filter again and put some fresh in.
