I've just bought a NC 30 and on taking it down the duel carridge way when upping the rev's it whines higher and higher as you up the revs.

is this something do do with the streight cut gears instead of a cam chain or something else bad??

Depends if you actually have a squeaking, VFRs don't squeak, they whine or whir so if it's squeaking you may have a mouse stuck in the rocker cover.
