Hello all,

1990 ZZR 400, I've got 2 plastic pipes just behind the brake pedal that look like they are some sort of overflow pipes. One had a plastic bung in the end and when I took the bung out a bit of oily gunk seeped out.
This pipe has come adrift from wherever it was connected to on the engine and now when I stop I'm getting a little bit of oil leaking on the floor.
a) Are they overflow pipes?
b) Could not having the one with a bung in be causing an oil leak ?
c) Where does it connect to ?
Many thanks
Stu

The pipe with the bung sounds like a drain from the airbox, the second pipe sounds like a breather from the engine crankcase. the bung must be in place for mot. but drain every 6 months or so.

Thanks for the reply. Yes that would make sense as it seems to go up into that part of the bike. I'll take a proper look tomorrow. What does it drain off from the air box ?

It drains any oil that ends up in the airbox from the crankcase breather hose. Smile

Spot on, that explains why I've got a little patch of oil under the middle of the bike after I park up. I'll take a look tomorrow.
