i think you have read the number wrong on the bike, im pretty sure the 8 you put in the number is a B, so its JC22B and not JC228.

this would make it a french import which are heavily restricted in standard form.

Right I just had a quick look for you mate. Alot of stuff written on the internet about NSR's is on foreign forums. I just checked a polish one and according to them JC228 is Italian.

I answered this a while ago on here and found a link for a German forum but now I can't find the German forum or the post on here either. But I'm pretty sure it is Italian though but Alains will know for sure. The JC228 is a weird one.

You can email David Silvers spares with your vin number and they will know all the craic with it.

The usual frame numbers of JC22 and then a letter were brought in after this bike was made. Thats why it had JC228 and not a letter.

spoke to Alain but because the bike is an early model he cant verify where it came from

its definatley an 8 and not a b on the vin

will go with it being italian then i guess as carl_steveo suggests.

had the exhaust off today and its not restricted

joys of buying a 125 after 12 years of being on a bike

I'm not sure if it is Italian mind. Just reading some of the German and Polish forums the country related to JC228 tends to be Italy.

Only thing you might have been able to do was to see what restrictions are in it. That might have told you were it was from. Unless somebody has already removed them and you would still be lost.

had the exhaust off so far and theres no restrictor within or signs there was so its either never been there or been removed well.
will have a look at the rest on the weekend
ride wise it does not seem derestricted as its slow on exelleration and top end, although this could be me as i not ridn a bike in donkies years so could be the way i ride it.

i think 'E' is the swiss model like i had.

have a look under the seat at the cdi unit, the cdi is right at the back behind the tail light, then see if you can see an orange/white wire coming out then going back into the cdi in a loop. If there is it's swiss.

took me ages to derestrict mine, but when you know where your looking and know what to do it pretty simple, most of it is just a case of unplugging stuff

I don't know why they went to the effort to be honust, it doesn't take a genius to figure out how to de-restrict them lol. They could have saved themselves the bother lol.

Not entirely sure mate. A swiss model should only be able to rev to 7500rpm. I don't know how this works and would the restrictor kick in in neutral. Try it anyway in neutral and if you can try it on the go.

Quote:
Switzerland
This has the frame number ZDCJC22E******

This has a many restrictions to keep within Switzerland's strict speed and noise pollution law the engine cannot run past 7500rpm

when you key on, the p/v servo should should make a whirring noise and turn, on mine it used to just twitch. it may still be swiss but because its one of the early ones it may not have the cdi loop. but it may still have the servo jammer
