Hey,
So i want to go over the electrics and have a space indoors to strip the bike down *yay*.
Only problem is last time i attempted it i found it exceptionally difficult to get the front upper/mid fairings off. The lowers are a breeze but really couldnt figure out the upper ones...

I located some screws holding them in but they are in impossible positions to get at and there has to be an easier way Neutral

Any thoughts would be much appreciated as this bike has been really easy to work on so far and if there isnt an easier way to get the front fairings off i'll be somewhat disappointed lol...

Best regards

Do you mean the fairing that has the light and that in. ???

If so have you got a ratchet with an extender.

Yep,
I got the bolts out that are just below the windscreen/to each side of the clocks...
Didnt seem to help to much Neutral

Where to look after that haha.

Really want to go over all the wiring for earths and such, figure out this intermittent *all power disapearing bar the engine still running* as it makes me nervous at night Neutral

Best regards

Best way to do it is, remove the two bolts that attach the clocks to the frame. That means you can move the clocks about and have more room. There are four screws around the clocks for the light fitting. They are in a rectangle. Two above the clocks and two below.

Also don't forget your mirrors attach the fairing to the frame aswell. Then after you have done that it's a case of pulling the 'Air intakes' out of the little housing thing they sit in and sliding the front fairing off. Make sure to be carefull with the light, it does disconnect so you don't have to leave it hanging.

I'm assuming you have removed all bottom fairings. There is a point on each side where the bolt goes through the bottom fairing, into the top fairing and then into the frame. If you have the bottom fairing still on there is that to remove aswell.

You know what,
now this is going to sound really special but i think there is a slight chance i may have actually left the mirrors on there which would explain a lot Neutral
Dang nammit...
Totally forgot about that, i got the clocks off but decided not to disconnect them as i would have been getting in deeper than i was hoping at the time Neutral

Really wish the Newer fared NSR manual was a little more handy...

Cheers anywho.

I will have another shot at it in a couple of days Smile

Best regards

I never take the clocks off, there is a speedo cable and wires and it's too much faff for me lol.

I need to do my wiring aswell but I can't seem to find the problem which is crap, I know nothing about wiring, I have diagrams but they don't help me lol.

I removed my front fairing the other week, from what i remember, two screws either side of the clocks, removed the wing mirrors, two screws on the screen and pretty sure that was it.
Saying that the monkey I bought it off had left most of the bolts out of it Smile

Only problem is the fairing acts like a giant airbrake and its flares out with only two tiny screws and a cable tie holding it in place Smile

yeah,
found out today doing 70+ with one bolt missing from the side of the clocks results in some pretty bad shakes up front Shocked

Will be putting that back in when i get home (had it out a while back and proved very difficult to get back in). Not so bright Neutral

Some of my bolts were falling out due to vibrations, so I put them all in using a drill to make them tight. When I tried to get them out again to remove the fairings I couldn't undo them lol. So I went back to doing them by hand again. I have lost the long bolt with the plastic bit on it that attachs the tail fairing either side of the seat. Also I lost my bar end lol, bastard vibrations.
