Hello again!

Ive just sold my Hayabusa and Ive got my eye on an RSVR that a bloke is selling up the road. Weve come to an agreement on price etc but as Ive never tried a litre twin I will be needing to take it out for a blast before we shake on it.

The bloke hasnt got the bike insured at the moment, and since my policy expired a month ago neither do I. I dont want to risk taking it out for a thrash without insurance for many reasons, such as chucking it down the road, the fact it has offensively loud akros on it etc etc. So what can I do? Do I insure it first then take it out and if I dont like it I'll come home and cancel the insurance?

Any experiences here?

14 days for a full refund normally IIRC. They mention it when you sign up.

Or you could just get insured for the day so you can go on a test ride Razz

Im probably going to love it anyway!

Sounds a bit on the expensive side, have you tried it?

If something happens, you backdate it a day.

They're supposed to not penalise you within the 14 day cooling off period. I.e. full refund / pro-rata refund.

In reality, they're total pigs and often try to charge a flat rate (e.g. £25) or even a cancellation fee, because they seem to think their own terms and conditions can overrule the law (which it can't. Legally speaking.)

Yeah thats the fear I have. Another one is that I need to have a good go on the bike to see what its like but it simply wont stop pissing down up here!

Ironically Im sat here complaining about the rain and the Mrs is at work taking calls from people who are pissed off about the hosepipe ban!

If you pay it outright I believe you can get a full refund, if you take it monthly then you get hit with a cost, i did this couple months ago, £62... stung a bit for a £400 policy

Why not take out a ebike month policy and make it legal.

14 days distance selling only applies before the policy comes into force, If you take it out to start today and cancel tomorow, then expect to pay not only for the days ins, but also any admin charges.
