Riding to work this morning, my rear wheel bearings went tits up. Had a whine for a while now, checked the wheel but no play in it, this morning, spectacular play in it, back end was twitching like Michael J Fox.
Then I had to ride home on it, as I have no access to a van, no cash and no breakdown cover. I made it but there were approximately 50% of the ball bearing ins there that there should have been. I was lucky it didn't lock up completely.
Yamaha wanted £118 for three bearings  Ebay won with £32.19 delivered

£33? Ouch!
I presume that was ordering by bike model rather than bearing spec?
After paying £50 for push bike bearings, I always now make an effort to just get the bearing number and order that direct. Bearings all 'round (two front two rear) for my KTM 200 were £6.50 delivered  . |

Yep it seems that when ordered as "motorcycle wheel bearings" they suddenly jump in price by a sizeable fator.
+1 for going to a bearing factor |

Ordinarily I would agree but, as the details of the bearing that disintegrated were written on the metal face, which was in about eight bits and unrecogniseable, I wasn't able to get the part number of that particular bearing. Anyway, £33 might be expensive but Yamaha wanted £118 - FFS! I never buy anything from dealers that I can find elsewhere.

Gotta love eBay Recently did the wifes 636 bearings. Front and back. Found a shop on eBay selling a set for about £5.50 posted, so about £11 for front and back.
