Hi, there are these shitty chavs who sit in the corner of my road on their bmx's and skateboards, with no regard to road direction or traffic. THey leave object in the road (i nearly hit an aluminium bar grind rail a while back which i didnt even see and id only stopped for the gimpy kid, if he hadnt of stayed there like dumb tit i would have gone straight into it.

I have had several words with them, and they naff off at the time, and then come back. We have talked to their parents, and they gave us a load of gip, then the kids were out again.

And the really annoying thing is we are RIGHT next to a cycle track, a big park, etc etc. They just deserve shooting.

Last week i came in from work, up my road, and they were all skating about in the middle of the road, and one actually skated at me even after they saw me. I actually stopped so sharply my bike stalled (i have a slippy clutch).

My question is what can the police do, cos sooner or later one of em is gonna get hit, which frankly i would find fantastic, aslong as its not by me, either or my parents, any mates or my sister. However sods law it probably would be me.
Or if the police cant do anything, how raped would i get for 'accidentally' clipping one of them with my foot or such when i go past. Cos they really really fuck me off.

And some of them are like 16-18.
Oh and for the record theres a skate park about 15 minutes walk from my house.

(and yes the swearing might demolish my karma)

If there in the road, and they can clearly see you coming, just keep going, don't break the speed limit and accidently have your foot slip off, or if there in your path keep going.

Only way to teach them is by pain or scaring the shit out of them.

Kid's, shoot them all!!

I would get a video camera and get some footage of it all going on if possible, copy a few on tape, give one to the police and local council, post the other copys through the known culprits house letter boxes.(if any)

I clipped a cocky kid outside the local off licence and I received a warning for it ffs, give police hard evidence on tape and let them sort it, you done half their job, if you have neighbors getting peeved with it also, ask them to write a letter which you can enclose with your own.

No idea if it will have any affect at all but it sounds good.

Respect autoritahhh!

If you knock them over when they are skating on the road, then you are not liable I don't think, as they wern't crossing the road. you have right of way, as long as you keep in the speed limit, it would be their fault.

Don't quote me on that though.

Hum, I'm quoting you, but only because you're wrong. Any powered vehicle must give way to a pedestrian - even if that pedestrian is faffing about in the middle of the road on a skateboard, in an irritating manner. Simply claiming that you were innocently driving along, at or under the speed limit, and the skater didn't get out of your way does not make him or her responsible for any collision. You have a duty to observe and take appropriate evasive action. Haven't you looked at a Highway Code recently?

Git's tape idea is probably the best; there have been many similar cases recently where taped evidence has led to ASBOs being issued, which means Plod will actually do something if you call them out.

Good luck..

Just tell the police about them saying it is unsafe, that you have nearly hit them many times and that its only a matter of time untill one gets killed. then if they DO piss you off sufficiently to get a bump then you can just say i told you so to the boys in blue.

If you have names and/or addresses, you don't need taped evidence to make a complaint to the police. If enough people (or in some cases the right people) do it, they can go and caution both the kids and their parents and warn them that if they continue to cause a nuisance they could become liable for an ABSO.

Problem is, if you made a complaint, are they the sort of people who would take revenge on you for "grassing" them up? If they are then a quiet word with your local bike club, followed by a "polite" visit to their parents, might just do the trick.

I doubt they would come after me, maybe grass me up for my wheelies at 2 in the morning Embarassed but no proof.

I really would love nothin more then for them to get mowed down in a fountain of blood by a big four by four. Sadly... not going to happen. And i have next to no chance of getting away with accidentally clipping one.
Altho last time i wheelied at them they all scarpered.

This is a good site to check out in relation to neighbourhood issues.
https://www.nfh.org.uk/

They have a good forum and you usually get a good reply from people who know what they're talking about.

No, they won't.

An ASBO (anti-social behaviour order) will only come into effect in extreme circumstances, i.e. repeated burglaries, vandalism, arson and the like.

You won't get one for skateboarding on a road.

Running them over is not the answer either - regardless of 'whos fault' it is. I'm surprised so many people here have suggested such a stupid course of action.

If you were driving along and there was a pensioner crossing the road ahead of you, would you still keep going? Cos she can see you, right? So its her fault if she gets knocked down? Wrong. Its your fault because you could have stopped and didn't.

True however if said OAP was loitering in the middle of the road with an armchair, every day. Youd get the arse. Shed eventually get taken into care wouldnt she.

Can't you just pull out a big gun and shoot them in the knees?
That'll stop them getting near the road.

Yes they will. An ASBO can be issued in any circumstance in which the offender is causing a nuisance, harrassment or distress to someone else. The more people complain or the more often they complain the more likely the police are to take it seriously and do something for you.

One of my neighbours complained to the police about a ball belonging to another neighbour's kids forever ending up in her garden when they were playing in the street, and after 15 calls from her in 2 days and someone else in the street backing up her complaint the police came & threatened the kid's parents with ASBO. It's been really quiet around here since then........

That was how it was intended, but not how the law is being abused. Just ask those who are being threatened with one having done one wheelie.

All the best

A handfull of small chukies scattered accross the road should prove effective. You gotta find ones just slightly bigger than the distance between the road and the axle of a skateboard. Used to do this for entertainment when I lived in Edinburgh and you got fed up not being able to walk accross a certain part of the university for fear of being mown down. Used to just saunter across the area in question casually dropping chuckies on the way then sit back and watch Twisted Evil
