Watched Eden Lake last night. If you're a fan of Brit thriller/very violent/horror-ish you may like this.

It's about a couple of go away for a romantic weekend on a lake & get terrorized by a group of chavs, very violent but fun movie to kill an hour or so.

Nothing new really, same old acting in these types of movies but i sitll always enjoy them all the way through. I'd described it as The Descent without monsters & not in a cave.

Most torrent sites have it.

Will have a watch, I really liked the Descent 1 and 2 but I put that down to Neil Marshall who was also responsible for Dog Soldiers, he's not part of this even though it seems to be the same production house.

You can definitely see it in the cinematography, angles, shots & the whole vibe of the movie, so would guess it would of been the same production team.

Just a testicle i'm afraid. Razz Although the lead role (Actress in Sherlock Holmes, Watson's wife). She has something about her, quite odd looking but very attractive i find.

I told you it was a typical movie, what was you expecting? Smile You can't expect it to have great acting & non cliched characters/plot. Its a fun movie where you don't need to think.

Agree,

The end was probably my favorite part so don't want to spoil it but if you just want to know.

*Spoiler*

Lady escapes woods, finds a nearby house which is having a party. Turns out the house is the parents of the boy she was trying to escape from. The boy tells his dad that this lady & her boyfriend were perverts & that they killed the little one (they did) & so the blame is now on them. The dad & two other guys then rush into the bathroom where the lady is & close the door, the end. Smile

Think they done it pretty well, all through the film is non stop gore so having a subtle ending was a nice touch.

Also there seems to be a message throughout the film that it 'is' the parents fault why kids go off the rails.

These films are all 'shit' in cool sort of way if that makes sense. You can't expect something great. If you don't mind gore, cliche story/acting with silly decisions then give it a watch, if not then it's probably best to give it a miss.

I like British films but the GF hates them, so her hating it will make it a good film.

I watched Green Streets 2 last night, it was apparantly a flop when it came out but I liked that so Eden Lake has a chance.

Meh, it got 7.0 on IMDB so it can't be that shit. Sad

Downloading it now though, I like shit films (mega shark vs giant octopus with it's score of 2.9!!) so I'm hoping that the imdb score is just wrong. Razz

Enjoyed the first but didn't watch the second. UK footie fans in a U.S prison, sounded a bit too far fetched. May give it a watch tho. Thumbs Up

Shit was probably the wrong word but they're just ultra cliche & silly, which is fun.

You made me laugh out loud with Mega shark vs giant octopus. Laughing The bar is set pretty low i guess Mr. Green

Currently downloading Repo Men with Jude law & Forrest Whitaker. Looks fun.

Don't want to spoil it for anybody so I will write small.

I wasn't really expecting the ending to be honust, I knew where she was straight away when she crashed. I just thought she might have got away.

What did you think.

Spoilers..

I thought it was really good because from start to finish you have all this gore & blood, usually seeing every little detail & with the end, you don't get to see it & she's in a bathroom with no exit & 3 men walk in, so there's a sense of helplessness. it added a very nice touch, much better then if you actually saw these men kill her.

Thought 'Brett' at the end was going to show some emotion when he looked in the mirror, guess i was wrong lol.

It's also VERY refreshing to see something that doesn't have a happy ending.

*Spoilers.*

Yeah I sort of agree there, it's all gore and horror and then it's a little cliffhanger and an unexpected ending. I'm guessing they probablys shot a gore ending where you see her get murked in the bathroom. I think if it had this it would probablys spoil it compared to the subtle ending. I like the bit at the end with Brett aswell, he looks straight at you, takes off the Rayban's and looks as if he is saying LOL. I like the style of endings where the character looks at you, another of my favourites is the This Is England ending, with the same kid that gets stabbed in the neck near the bin.

Are there anymore British films like this that aren't shit.

Another film I want to watch even though it isn't British is The Human Centipede, it's been mentioned on here before, possibly by me I can't remember. I won't if it's out yet.

Haven't seen This Is England for a while, brilliant film. Really good scene when Milky & that neo-nazi guy are in the bedroom, the build up is quite tense. Interesting fact, Stephen Graham the above skin head is actually mixed raced with a black dad. Very good actor & shows he can play a lot of roles. He's been in quite a few big Hollywood flicks too.

Other British films with a similar tone & some others worth watching.

Dead Mans shoes
Room For Romeo Brass - (Not really violent but a good drama with paddy Considine & a lot of the This Is England cast)
The Wilderness - (Really enjoyed this, similar tone to Eden Lake)
Outpost - (Loved this film, zombie Nazi's, very good low budget movie with Ray Stevenson (Punisher)
Dog Soldiers
Kidulthood
Adulthood
Essex Boys
Cass (Based on a true story of the top hooligan at West ham who was black)
Fifty Dead Men Walking (True story about a teen spy in the IRA during the 1980s)
Rise of the Footsoldier (Similar to Essex boys involving those Essex murders a few years back, a better watch then Essex Boys & really enjoyable)
The Business
Goodbye Charlie Bright (Awesome movie)
Outlaw
Harry Brown
The Firm (Gary Oldman)
Gangster No.1
Boy A (loosely based on the James Bulger killing) Good film.
