I am out on my KTM 250 EXC 2t today, been a while since I last rode it. . . I love the way it is so 'flickable', the soft & smooth suspension laps up what you throw at it ... the low down grunt means it is good fast or slow Smile . . . which is how I am riding it now coz I am limping it home after noticing mid ride the rear bearing has a fair bit of play. .. Confused

It is pretty handy though ... I seem to fix one ... and the other one breaks/needs something Mad ... with two on the go, it means I am more likely to have one that is good to go at any given point!! Cool

I wouldn't worry too much about 'a bit of play' - I've started an enduro in that sort of state Smile.

In the rear, a bit of play can become a lot of play - Klause had one go from fine to rats in a very short time - it started spitting his chain off left right and centre ... Shocked

I had a bit of play in the WRs front the other weekend, but decided 'meh, its only the front' and went out anyway ... that is the same ride the bike spat its front pad pin and consequently pads ... coincidence?? maybe, cause and effect?? maybe?? Thinking

BTW there was some slight play in the KTMs front, so I have replaced them now (again) too ... what is cool there is that they are the same bearing as the WR and I bought a job lot of 5 for the WR ... so had some to hand Smile

So I just need some rear bearings ...

Managed to get the rear bearings out too ... which is a bonus ...

Hmmm, same bearing, so wheels could be interchangeable with some bodging probably Razz.

For me I've found dodgy bearings seem to be more of an issue on road bikes oddly enough - maybe because you notice bumpyness more.

You should have seen the Gasser's bearings when I changed them. They were full of mud! I reckon I could have got at least another 500 miles out of them Wink

Pffff. I once checked my old DRZ's rear wheel bearings, after the rear wheel felt like it was going too fall off.

I then discovered it was probally about too, or seize should i say. The bearing case had been completely destroyed, and the ball bearings had grinded up my spacer Embarassed
