How do all, new biker lass here. Recently got an '05 Yamaha YBR125 and have done about 150 miles on it so far this week. However, it's now come to having to refuel, and so this morning I went down to the bike to have a gander at the filler cap, make sure I could get it off an on ok....got it off ok but now I'm not 100% sure I've put it back on correctly Rolling Eyes There's a little arrow thing on the top of the cap which I've lined up with the little groove in the tank and the key has locked it...there's about 3ml of gap round the front end of it though and its ever so slightly wobbly it pushed at one end...am I just being paranoid?...Is it possible to get it wrong if you've lined it up?

Cheers in advance,
Slightly bemused Yam owner

The one I filled up recently, you had to aline the arrow forward, then push the cap down, as it clicked home the key turns on it's own to the locked position and you can remove the key. The cap is sprung so yes, you can wobble it slightly.

Unfortunately can't offer any insight into the bike. However my friend has recently got an 05 YBR with only 1500 miles on it and it's a seriously solid bike. Hope you're enjoying yours as much as he is. I'd never trade my little smoky RXS for it though, I love my bike! Razz

Sounds like it's not pushed home properly, it needs quite a firm press down.

If you don't get a lap full of petrol after filling up, the cap is on properly Laughing

Loving it like you wouldn't believe. Did 100 miles on it yesterday, can't get over how forgiving it is! My mate's just sold his RXS, seriously good bike for what it is Very Happy

Well I trusted it was on ok and then went and filled up yesterday, didn't experience a leakage so all is good.

Cheers for the replies all! Well except

Glad your ok with it.
The YBR fuel cap is the same as my Honda Varadero, you just align the arrow facing forwards and push the cap down and the key should automatically shift back and allow you to remove Laughing

i know what you mean about the gap etc and it did confuse the monkeys out of me when i first got my varadero haha Razz

Oh and welcome to the forum Wink

Hi, newbie here...

I have an '07 YBR 125 and somehow last time I filed up I put the cap on the wrong way round (ie. with the arrow pointing backwards), and now I can't get it off!! Embarassed

Any Ideas?

Thanks

I would suggest that removing one of these filler caps that's been put in with the arrow in the wrong place is definitely a 2 man job.
One to keep the key turned so the latch is in the fully retracted position. The second to prise the cap out with bicycle tyre levers or something similar and to ensure that sufficient padding is placed under the levers so the tank doesn't get damaged as the filler cap is eased up out of the tank.
Ideally the first man also needs to have a good cricketing background, to catch the little sucker as it's bound to fly up and bounce back down denting the tank where there isn't any protective padding in place.
