Had a bad aquaplaning moment on the wet a couple of weeks ago and it has put me confidence of riding in the wet right down.
Though maybe I should of got my tyres replaced much earlier, I had next to nothing tread left, so it was my own fault.
I don't mind the actual rain though, just those little scary moments...oh and manhole covers are deadly. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. It didn't completely aquaplane, I lost complete control on the front tyre and until I had slowed down by easing off the accelerator I regained control of the front end, fortunately the back kept itself.
Sorry, what I meant by aquaplaning moment was it was sort of like it...but not, just the symptons. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. I'm just about to upgrade my jacket - 6 years old and not so good anymore at keeping my dry - what is the latest waterproof gear and who is it made by?
On the original topic - no, I don't enjoy riding in the rain, it definitely increases the chances of an 'off' ____________________ Using a mobile phone while driving a car should be made a capital offence! |

I don't mind riding in the rain at all.
I just go slower and don't lean the bike as much as I would in the dry.
My BT45's give me good grip in the dry or wet so it doesn't really bother me.
Though I hate it when I caught out in the rain wearing full leathers and getting piss wet through! . |

First (and only, so far) time I went out in the rain I'd just placed my order for coffee round a friends house, and was leaving college when buckets fell from the heavens.
It was also the first time I went down part of a By-Pass that I thought was too fast & dangerous for me in the dry .
Didn't do too badly though, felt my back wheel go when I went through a puddle, but didn't loose complete control. Shame I didn't have me leggings with me though, jeans got soaked! Top half dry as a bone though
I don't have a problem with wet riding, but _really_ need more practice. and some boots. ____________________ If this signature is blue, you're riding too fast |

You have to change you style abit but its all still shits a giggles. I just hate the lack of vision. But if its kinda just sleeting i dont even tend to notice it.
Also oddly i find my leather jacket more waterproof then my dianese touring jacket.
oh and my back end goes awol as much in the dry as in the wet. None of you smaller bikes have any problems, nor infact do i really unless im really careless. Its the dudes on the busa's and ZX10's etc. So much power, overwhelms the grip if your not careful.
I tend to just get very careful with squeexing on the power out of corners, and take corner speeds a lot slower. Smoother (ie wait for lower revs) down changes, smoother braking. Just general smoothness. That said i still like roaring past people when its wet. Worst wet condition is dirty road sections where no cars go, like just after traffic islands and such, crank it up on one of them, back gets very unhappy.
But i dont LIKE wet riding, its a bit more dangerous then dry. And you cant go AS fast. But i do love controlling slides :p the problems when the bike just disappears from under you. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

I hate riding in the rain because of the not-seeing-where-you're-going malarkey.
As I wear glasses I find that even if my visor doesn't get all fugged up, my glasses nearly always do.

Well i have to say i drive in the rain because i don't like to be classed as a fair weather driver, but i don't really like it for the same reasons as a few have mentioned, you can just see out your visor and no more .
Plus i normally like to ride with the visor up, and when doing that my glasses do get a bit wet lol .
But not to worry, we cant have good weather all the time ____________________ n0zz |

So long as its not snow, I don't care.
I don't actually mind the rain. Not thrilled with deluges, especially if I have my specs on instead of my contact lenses, but I never put my visor fully down EVER, just spend my time flipping it up or down to nose level to keep the worst stinging rain off and peering out from underneath
I don't mind getting wet, either, so long as I have a change of clothes, or am on my way home.
I often arrive at my destination, looking like a candidate for the Sturdy Old Dears' Wet T-Shirt Competition ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |
