I went for a test ride this afternoon and bought it as soon as I got back....

https://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c186/villersCBR/2010_0622_154712.jpg

2006 RSVR, 5100 miles, newish tyres, Akro cans, taxed and tested for 12 months £4300.

He gave me a box full of bits too, including a tiny plate, the old plate hanger, some oil, a brake bleeding kit, chain lube , brake fluid, pillion seat and the original exhausts (that weigh an effing ton BTW!!).

Ive been blasting around on it pretty much all day in the blazing sun up in cumbria. Im loving the handling, the noise and the brakes. Im not so much liking the seat height or the silly upside down indicator/horn switch!

I need to get myself a bit more lithe to deal with the new extreme riding position but Ive had some good fun this afternoon. I miss the hayabusas power but Ive gained a few other advantages. One thing I'll say is that the 1000cc V-Twin was only marginally quicker than my mates 09 ZX6R, something that I'd heard but wasnt convinced about. The engine isnt anywhere near as lumpy as I thought it was going to be and can at times be quite smooth.

In short, Im loving it! Laughing

Im not too convinced on the problem just yet. I need to do a couple of wee mods to stop some ridiculous problems ocurring but aside from that it seems good.

One thing that made me laugh is that there is an annoying problem with the rear brake. They have placed the reservoir in such a place that it gets heated up by the engine and fades to nothing over time. It needs regular bleeds and fresh fluid. When i was looking through the notes earlier I found a letter from aprilia stating the problem had been investinagted by engineers and basically didnt exist. Any deterioration in braking power was down to 'materials used during servicing' and that the bike should go to a dealer for any brake issues. BOLLOCKS MATE!

Glad you took the plunge, and yes the rear brake doesn't work on any of them. I wouldn't even worry about it. It's just hassle to keep on top of it. I never used mine. Laughing

That wasn't a plunge, that was a gentle climb down the ladder into the shallow end with your waterwings on! Razz

Not counting the weeks of wandering back and forth through the footwash, sitting poolside on a cheap plastic chair in your soggy trunks and heading back to the showers three times to warm up?

Try before you buy, pah! Laughing

I'll have to work on the flyby, but the sound is pretty nice with the baffles out right now. Ive just noticed the ex-owner has overfilled the front brake reservoir so I'll have to sort that out. Took some more photos, but just with my phone!
