Saw one of these today (SCL Voyager):

https://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/prototype-spy-concept/SCL-1990-Voyager-small.jpg

Pretty rare by the looks of things (only 5 made).

What's the rarest bike you've seen on the road (rather than at a show)?

For those of you that can't see it for some reason, I have uploaded a copy of the picture to the BCF site.

I saw a race RG500 outside Broadcasting House once, with Barry Sheene on it. Those bikes can't have had many outings on public roads.

I just posted a thread about something very similar i spotted. Rarest bike i've ever seen is a RC166

https://www.vf750fd.com/Joep_Kortekaas/honda_race_history/rc166-1.jpg

I've seen a few standard CBX1000's but they are damn rare!

I know a guy with an RG500, their pretty damn rare in original condition these days.

A guy my dad knows sold some old british heap of a thing he'd had in a shed for 50 years for about £60,000 dunno what it was, but i bet i'll never see another one!

Ironically I've never seen another Futura down my neck of the woods Wink Sadly it's no NR750. Seen a fair few CBX1000s (Stock and Spondons mainly), theres a couple of RC45s and a tarty NSR250 sp around too, No Desmo that I know of though.

RG500B you mean? The race bike?

Yep. There was some photoshoot or other going on. But the bike was there on the public road with Barry on it, so it counts as a rare bike on the road Laughing

Mates dads got a black shadow, although I've never seen it on the road.

It's a Moto Martin Honda CBX1000, some German bloke brought it into a bike shop I worked at as a youth for some work.

Also saw a NR750 on the South Bank a few months back.

That looks awesome! I am finding myself falling in love with the café racer look bikes at the moment.

On the 'Road'?
Does the Classic Parade in the IoM count then? Smile
That aside I DID nearly crash the Chavic the other day.
Saw old classic coming towards me, as I drove into town.
Chap riding in Bellstaffs & silver 'period' helmet.
"Cant BE!" I screamed, scrutinising the forks carefully...
Snowtiger in the passenger seat, alarmed, gripping the cushion!
"It BlUDY IZ!" as it passed, my head tracking it......
"Watch the fucking road!" screamed the Snowtigeress, as a car pulled onto the mini-roundabout ahead, and I had to divert my attension from the Series C Rapide, dissapearing slowly in the rear-view!
NR750.
Back in '98 saw two on the Island. One was parked up outside some-ones house, other had I think 'Drayton-Croft' stickers on it; was the bike that the press tested most, becouse they rented it out for photo-shoots. Some-one had it up at Ginger-Hall.
There was a 3rd, but that dont count. It was in th marquay for the Honda 50th Anniversary display!
Shared passage to the Island with a Moto-Martin CBX, and there were a few others there. aparently there was a Moto-Martin meet during the festivities.
In fact, there are SO many rare bikes ridden to teh Island, that they become common.
I went over on my 1985 VF1000F.
There are only something like 60 on the DVLA data-base as registered in the UK, and only about three of them taxed!
Hardly a head-turningly 'exotic' bike..... but in THAT exulted company..... well, it was the ONLY one there!
If you passed on in the street, though, bet you'd not clock it as rare, like you would an original RC30 or Norton 'Inter'!
Wonder how many other, 'un-exotic' rare bikes there are about?
I mean, Suzuki GSX650 Katana's we all KNOw are sought after Classics, but what about the plain old GSX650? How many of them have been left after people have depleated the pile dressing them up as Kats or robbing them of vital bits to keep Kats going?
What about the mundane and the real sales flops?
Any-one remember the trellis frame Honda CB350 'Super-Dream'. or the Yamaha XS650 'turbo'? Are there ANY still running and on the road?!?!?
They didn't make many Heskets, but becouse of thier scarcity, you can pretty much garantee that MOST ever built are still in one piece.
But something as humble and common-place as a GPz550? Havent seen one of those in standard trim for MANY a year.

MV Agusta F4i turned up at Hartford Marina on Tues, as did an RC8, not exactly rare but don't see them often.

I saw both of those today! To be fair though i was pretty shocked and drooling like a moron as they came past Laughing

I was out with some friends the other night when i heard a bike coming down the road, right away i knew it was a multi cylinder 2 stroke. I got up and had a good look to see an NSR250 wizzing past and parking just up the road. They couldn't understand what the fuss was claiming it was just another bike, there are loads about. I tried to explain but gave up Sad God i'm sad. Crying or Very sad

Bought this one for peanuts and it turns out that there are only 3 known to exist after I contacted the Vintage Scooter club of G.B. The engine is a 200cc dynastart single cylinder Sachs with a cowl fitted over the head and barrel to aid cooling. Notice the strange twin high level fuel tanks and the 3 exhaust expansion chambers. The main body work is of cast aluminium and the bike has lugs for mounting a sidecar, the whole bike is slightly bigger than an old CX500 honda.

OK give us a clue, WTF is it?

Apart from a 'scooter'.... obviousely, and so pug-bludy ugly its almost cool!

Note: Snowtigeress just said; "You CANT say that!" in her best, 'concience on the shoulder' tone.

I said.... "Did you see the picture?"

https://cdn.bikechatforums.com/files/mvc-037s.jpg

She said..... "Oh....." in a very deflating way.

Objection Over-ruled!

What she dont get, is that I actually quite like it!

OK, its hardly 'sexy', but, err, 'it has 'Charecter' in spades..... In fact, looks like the charecter was beaten into it with a spade!

I saw my dad's 2010 Hayabusa special paint edition get rolled out of the delivery van to our garage on february 27th, probably the only one at the time on the road in Britain Smile He couldn't ride it until March 1st though because of the registration plate. That was rare at the time Wink

My old man has a Triton, but I've never seen it on the road as it's been in bits for as long as I can remember (At least 20 years or so...).

Seen photo's of it though, and it looked the bollocks!
