boots zip fakd easy fix?

zip has snaped clean off on my boots. so si there a easy fix? cobblers wants £30 to fit a new zip o.O

id rather not. was thinking iof orderign a zip of ebay £3 deliverd and textile glue? will textile glue hold?

Is it just the tag of the zip that's come off or the whole body? My boot's zip has had a wire tie on it for years. One of my leathers had a keyring as the main tag for years too.

The Zip will be slightly heavier duty than a normal zip, so i doubt a £3 from e-bay would work... but even then, The zip isn't the reason cobblers are expensive, it's the sowing machine + Needles needed to sow through leather. if you ever tried pushing a sowing needle through a tough leather boot, you'll see it's near impossible!!

best option is either find a cheaper cobblers, or buy some more boots from Flee-bay !

tho boots are brand new and came free. after a phonecall i got a refund. but for £25 the bots where new i aint paying £26 for a zip.

i have a pair of sidi's on the way now. just i dotn want to use then every day in the ran and snow etc so thought cheap fix.

I have bought loads of cheap bike gear over the years, and pretty much every time I have ended up spending more replacing or fixing it than I would have just buying something decent in the first place.

If it's fucked out of the box, imagine how shit it will be after riding on salty roads for a couple of weeks.

Can't see why you wouldn't just wear your Sidi's through winter anyway, though I spose it's an issue if you want all your gear looking sparkly and new.

Agreed, If there new and the zip has just gone, there shxt and I wouldn't bother repairing them.

When I first got in to biking, I went down the cheap route, with gear and lids.

After 3 cheap lids in the first year, I bought Shoei, Same with the boots, I had 3 pairs, maximum £50 in price, they were all crap.

I've road practically most days in the last 3 years in some Alpine Star Waterproof SMX5s they cost about £150, but in reality they were cheaper than the crap that didn't last me a year.

Also having done the sliding down the road bit, i'm glad i'm not in budget gear.
