Hi - I am after some advice.

I did my CBT a few years ago and ran around quite happily on a Yamaha 125 4 stroke until the cbt expired.

I now want to get my full licence and will be booking the course this week so I need to start looking for a bike.

I will be running up and down the M5 to and from work 4 or 5 days a week and about 50 miles each way. I will also use the bike to travel from Bristol to Bournemouth on the back roads abut once a month.

I have been looking at the Honda Deauville 650 as I like the slightly more upright riding position.

Any other suggestions or advice would be gratefully received.

Cheers,

Mike

Deauville 650 is ideal for commuting as it's small enough to filter but still has nice built in luggage. It's shaft-driven too, so none of that messy chain maintenance you'd be doing daily on that sort of mileage. Pretty comfy too, by all accounts.

They are nicknamed "Dullville" though... for fairly obvious reasons.

It won't stick its hand down your pants and give your bits a shuffle like a Fazer or Hornet would, but it's solid bike for commuting.

Yep the Deauville sounds about right
It has a good reputation for reliability and I know guys who love em
to bits and go round Europe on them.
( admittedly older, more mature riders)
After a 125 you'll find it will have enough power to ruin yer underpants at times but
Angryjonnys right about the 'Dullville' comment it gained.

Thats a bit unfair as its gained a rep as a damned good middleweight tourer.
Just because bike wont pull a wheelie in 4th gear is no real reason to condemn it.
If you need a bike to get you there and back day after day, its a good choice.
Heres what the UBG says about them

Just remembered.
A mate in Scotland got his Iron butt award for clocking up 1000 miles in 24 hours on an NTV

I did a 2000+ mile jaunt round europe with a mate, me on my Wing, him on a 50000 mile dullsville. The only advantage I had was the stereo Laughing

Seriously, a good bit of kit if thats what rocks your boat.
