Umm, maybe more general bike but I need some constructive replies!

I've had my CBR600fY seat recovered and I can't slide my arse to save my life. I'm having to lift myself up, putting weight on the bars, to change position. Other than changing the seat again does anyone have any suggestions on how I can help the slide. Maybe spray with silicon?

Just learn to move over without putting any pressure on the bars, use your knees against the tank to move over.

If the seat is too slippery you'll have to fight to stay on the bike hence not being locked in properly and putting more pressure through the bars.

actually lying you stomach and chest on the tank allows you to lift your arse off the seat without unsettling the bike and keeping the weight off the bars at the same time.

Cheers Guys.

DynaMight, I probably didn't explain it well. I was literally stuck to the seat, without breaking the bond I wasn't going anywhere.

I gave the seat a good polish and it seems better for now.

Cool Thumbs Up - for the record, I believe a 'proper' way to move around is to use your knees gripping the tank to move your body weight.
This is especially good in chicanes where you may be steering at the same time. As it separates needing to move your body from the steering input, you shouldn't adversely affect the steering with your body weight.

G, I just can't visualise that at all Confused Are you saying that I need to clamp both knees to the tank and sort of pivot from that point?

TBH, I can't think how I do it, it just 'happens'.

Basically, yea; can see the technique here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHJY74495xs
Ironically when I was on a level 2 CSS day I was told they were allowed to teach me stuff from 'level 3'; however fortunately the people doing the third level were in my garage, so I stole some free education! (And it seems they giving it away free on the internet anyway Rolling Eyes.)

When coming up to a corner you should generally hang off before starting braking - that way you don't destabilise the bike when tipping in hard on the brakes. You'll probably want to keep your inside knee in during braking, so that you're not putting the 1g through your arms under braking, but can stick your leg out (a lot less mass moving about) as you start to get to knee down kinda time.
Of course, the reality is generally we're not keeping it anywhere near the limit of traction at this point (only few weekends O have been happy in this area while riding on track myself and certainly not at my current three trackdays a year pace) so it's less of an issue.
