what boots ?

But I Have the TCX SS (number 8) and i paid £100 for them new. Great pair of boots, really comfortable.

I've had a pair of the Sidi Black Rain for about 18 months, very good boots, though the tag for pulling the zip has broken on both boots. That being said, they've not leaked, they're comfy and (although now worn) the soles are still going strong too.

Have you thought about motocross boots?
I bought a pair for 30 quid and they are dead comfy and waterproof.
They look quite cool too, all futuristic and armyish .

It'd make sense if you can afford it. I recommended my boots (£40 new, ebay) to G but I'm not 100% that he bought the same type.

Go try a few pairs on at your local bike shop, then get a pair secondhand off ebay - for example alpinestar smx

they not cheapo made ones there just cant sell with scuffs or bad zips the rrp thats crossed out is what they sell for with out the fault they also do racesuits for about £80 with hump again i got me some and all that was up with was press stud was missing got new one from pound shop they was spidi ones i dont know what whey got there now but keep eye on site some real good buys pop up from time to time

I've had mine for ~3 years now, used regularly (often daily thru the winter), and although they're predictably starting to show some wear, they've never let me down

I have recently purchased motocross black half boots. They are quite comfortable. I also purchased leather boots an year ago, they were also nice, but too heavy, also those were long shoes ,so I was not feeling comfortable with them.

I've got a pair of black steel toe cap rigger boots which are fur lined and cost £25 new. When I took my lessons the instructor advised against steel toe caps as in the event of an accident they can drive up into your foot.

What's the official wisdom about steel toe caps ?

i spent about 250 over the course of 12 months on 3 pairs of bike boots which claimed to be waterproof (and weren't really all that good at being waterproof), and all 3 had holes in the soles after about 4 months.

I wear my boots EVERY day and sometimes have to walk pretty far in them.

4th time round i thought i'd up my budget a little bit and fork out for sidi mega goretex boots... and i'm glad i did...

3 months on, no signs of wear anywhere.. at all... comfy.. sole is intact and i've extensively tested their water resistance (manchester to conwy to betsw-y-coed to manchester in torrential rain and got home with dry warm feet)

I'd say spend the extra money... but.. maybe all the above has just been me being unlucky with my choices.

Definitely not waterproof, incredibly uncomfortable off the bike, but the best pair of riding boots i ever owned.
