I bought a bike a few weeks ago and finally go and get it taxed and what happens on the way to getting it, I get pulled and get given a 60 pound fine for no tax. Bollocks!

The police officer states he pulled me over because it looked like the strap on my helmet was undone which it was not and I was wearing full leathers and boots....

Soon as he's done checking the vehicle and smiles and hands me the fine he takes note of my dark visor and says there's no markings on it but will let me off and I start to question him about how to get fine reduced which he said is not possible however if I was to get the tax disk today backdated I may be able to get away with the fine? Anyone know if there's a way I go about not having to pay now?!

O and as soon as I start the bike with my turbokit exhaust he makes me kill it and asks the speed of the bike, I immediately say 30 and he lets me on my way. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be thank god

One does not know the meaning of walk Smile
However one now knows walking would of saved him 60 pounds for a mile of walking..... Should of just paid for a limo to take me to the post office!

I thought you could drive without tax to buy tax much in the same manner you can drive without an MOT to a test station?

Obviously I was wrong. Laughing.

Don't the police report people to the DVLA for not having tax, rather than handing out the fines (fixed penalty notices) themselves?

Were you /really/ on your way to buy tax? Laughing

You can drive an un-MOT'd vehicle to the test station because it needs to be present in order for the test to take place.

However, the post office generally don't ask you to hand your vehicle over the counter with your documents to tax it.

No wonder so many people don't tell Swansea and just vanish at the first sight of the old bill. Fucking pedantic, time wasting shower of pen pushing flaptards.

Shouldn't buy tax online for a bike bought recently until you've received the V5 in the post from the DVLA as when you buy tax online, it is sent to whoever the registered keeper is.

He said he bought it a few weeks ago so I was assuming he'd have the V5, if not then obviously its a bad idea. Laughing

People,

Can you please stop using the phrase "Buy Tax", as it annoys the fucking hell out of me. Buying something implies that you get something for your money, instead of us giving our money away at the post office like lambs to the slaughter.

You PAY tax, not buy it.

Rant over peeps.

Did you know that if you tell a Daily Mail reader that the only natural predator to a paedophile is an asylum seeker, their head will explode? It's true.

You keep telling yourself that.

You PAY FOR a tax disc, you don't buy it. It doesn't belong to you, same as your V5 doesn't belong to you, and your bike doesn't belong to you. The fucking police state owns them, you're just the "registered keeper" until they decide to confiscate it from you, or don't do anything when it gets nicked off you.

Think about it.
