 |

I know there was a question here a couple of weeks ago about debt. I hate any form of debt, however would you put yourself in short term debt to fork out on some riding gear, e.g. leathers?
The reason i ask is currently i'm riding in a borrowed leather jacket (that fits just), my own helmet, gloves and boots. I'm currently saving up for some leathers, however it's going to take a couple of months to get the ones that I want. I'm just conciensous of coming off with only jeans on. (I was once told at 30mph it only takes six yards before your down to your bone )
Would you put this on your credit card and pay it off? |

Sorry to be the boring voice of reason, but to make that decision you need to check out what the repayments would be, and, if they are affordable go for it.
Good quality gear is worth going into debt for: See the I've Crashed thread. ____________________ Previous: Suzuki GT125, Honda C50, Honda C90, Suzuki GS125, Yamaha XJ600N, Triumph 955i Sprint ST, Triumph 955i Speed Triple, Triumph 955i Tiger, Triumph 955i Sprint ST

Well, checking out the repayments and seeing if they are affordable should be done before buying anything where you'll be paying it off over some time. Same as with loans. Isn't seeing if you can afford to pay it back almost common sense? |

I don't like debt either, but decent riding gear is a must. |

I am in short term debt at the moment, due to crashing my car and having to pay a hefty excess, buying my bike, insuring it, buying lid, jacket and gloves. I still need leather trousers.
Short term debt is ok if you know that you can pay it back. |

I went in to Hein Gerricke to *look* at leathers. I was standing admiring an alpinestars silver 2 piece thinking that'd go nice with my bike. But it was too expensive. The salesman then mentioned that I could have it now and pay up interest free for a full year! I took it in an instant!
The way I see it, I was going to save up this year for it anyway. ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing  |

Done, just bought a 2 piece Dainesse suit... fits very nicely.
Already scuffed the knee sliders
Managed to blag MBNA into giving me 0% for 9 months. So i suppose thats the best form of debt i can get. |
