If I fancied a change how much am I looking at ££ ?

Right then.

I have bike. R6 . Blue done about 19,000 miles. Cost 2K.

Currently toying with selling it due to needing some immediate ££ however highly doubt that will happen...

Love my bike too much !
(Even though I just had to have my immobiliser cut out of the bike after it packing in.... !! Grr )

So I have a few things that I would ideally like to do to the bike.
New screen
Possibly new exhaust ( thinking higher mounted possbily stubby or a twin stacked can type thing.)
Get rid of rear pegs
and just general stuff like new indies as they orrible cheap carbon look ones.

OH and I want it to be a new colour...BLACK.

Don't know how much this will set me back but right now I just want a black bike.

Cost wise I haven't a clue..
Realistically how much I am looking at getting it sprayed gloss black by local sprayer at their shop?
Or how much chance do you think that I have in trying to track down some good nick 2nd hand fairings that someone has kicking around which are already black in colour? Im thinking slim.

Would take pics before and after...so when it comes to resale people know it hasn't been done due to it being crashed if you think that it may put people off buying it.

Although if I get hold of 2nd set of farings I wouldn't have this issue could just change them over and put the old ones back on when it comes to selling the bike in the future?

Am in the south west so if any of you on here have the equipment of your own / work at a spray booth or could even just reccomend me a good place to head to get it done that would FAB.

OR if anybody has some old fairings they no longer need and are selling then will sort you out some dosh for them.

liking the black idea the best colour for bikes should get the wheels done black aswell if they arnt already and funds permitting.

Oh yeas...forgot to mention the wheels.

Would get them powdercoated .
Place in Exeter said it would be £70/£80 a set in stock colours.

The whole paint thing isnt going to be cheap. The place that sorts them will have to prep the originals including removing any decals etc, sanding down, filling in any scratches, priming and then finally spraying. Could end up quite a bit. Don't forget to register the colour change while you are at it!!

Powder coating is pretty good value for money on the other hand. The screen should be anything from 30-50 notes, indicators as little as 20 quid the full set, rear hangar removal is free but remember to replace them for the MOT or remove your grabrails.

Best bet for the paint is to get a couple of quotes for the painting of said plastics/tank. Get the quote for the bits 'loose' i.e already off the bike, no point in paying them to remove/refit them if you can do it yourself!

You touch that original paintwork and the value of your bike will fall through the floor. People like to buy things that are close to original, not messed with to suit the previous owner.

Just bare that in mind for when you come to sell it.

Noxiuous is right. If you want a black bike, sell your bike as standard so you get its maximum value, and go buy a black bike! Unless your happy to waste ££thousands in which case do whatever makes you happy. As long as you accept that if you personalise a car/bike, your potentially reducing your amount of interested buyers from hundreds to maybe a handful.
Also your destroying its resale value. You will never get back any of the money you put into the paint job etc. And your also likely to struggle to sell for its 'original condition' value.

I'm with the rest on this one. Don't change the paintwork.

You could sell your bike and buy a cheap crashed one and restore it in black. That might be cheaper and then you wouldn't lose a ton of money.
Although i'm not sure how much you'd need to cough up for a damaged one. Them R6's aren't cheap

Buy some fairings off eBay and paint them black and keep your originals original. Would probably have to buy a tank as well though.
