Hi guys,

I'm trying to sort out my mates sisters laptop, got a few bits sorted but I'm having trouble getting some programs to stop running on start up.

I've done the obvious msconfig startup thingy but I don't know what else to try after that, any ideas please.

if you have ccleaner then that allows you to disable or delete startup programs.

There is also a startup folder accessible from the start menu. Any shortcuts put in there will run things. Other things will get started by other running services or processes. All are evil.

Autoruns is from the Sysinternals folks who do some very clever stuff (well they did before Microsoft bought them). It looks at everything that starts on the system wherever it may be lurking.
