Honda CG 125 Battery Problem

Hi,

First of all i'm no bike mecanic, although i do know how things work to a degree and i know how to put things together. i'm good with my hands basicly.

My honda CG is a 2005/06 model it runs really well ( when the battery is ok)

The problem i am having is the battery keeps loosing its charge over a preiod of time

things i have tried:

Replaced the battery, that was ok for a month or two but after that it started dying over a period of a week by the end of the week it was dead. an when i say dead i mean none of the electricks would woerk an the starter motor would do like a clicking sound when trying to start it.

i have fully charged the battery several times stil no result,

now im on the idea that it could be shorting some were so i took the tank off and the seat and taped up any wiring i could find so that it was not exposed but this morning the same happend again i got so annoyed by it i ended up taking the other halfs chinease copy of the CG :/

That does not make my Honda look good against the Chinese Lifan.

The odd thing is when i go to charge the battery it on 2 chargers they both say that the battery is full baring in mind that the bike doe not start on the electrick start lights dont come on indecaters wont come on or the horn done work nothing works so it cant be the starter motor.

im really confused anyone help me? anyone local who could have a look?

P.S i have a Cyclone Alarm System on it but when i bought it the guys assuerd me that the system would not affect the battery i had it all fitted properly

have you checked you fuses and bulbs ive herd that the newer cg dies if a fuse or bulb goes could be why it wont start but as for your battery slowly dieing do you use your bike just for short trips at low revs because ive herd the cg dont charge the battery properly till is running at 4000 rpm it might be just a case of using your bike for longer journeys

Ah ok in my headlamp i have a plug for a tiny bulb " the parking light" i think, it has not had a bulb in there since i bought the bike as i wasnt sure what bulb it needed what do you think ?

all the fuses are ok but i will double check them tonight

its called a pilot light its a 12v 2w bulb if your bike is a 56 plate like mine but i dont think this is your prob because you've been running it with out it but you can get them from halfords for about a pound

yes but its a good start as condensation or anything could get into the headlamp and could cause the socket where the bulb sits to short maybe i am not to sure anyway im going to dameralls to get a bulb at lunch then tonight il try it an see what happens

if it is not charging the battery while you ride it could be the alternator
/ generator or it could be a bad earth check earthing points by unbolting cleaning up any rust on connector and connection point reconnect then i would cover joins with vasaline to keep out water

ok i will look for those tonight i believe there is one on the battery of course, one on the fram and one in the headlamp is this correct ?

there could be more than that but keep your eyes open and have a good look around i would do anything that looks like its earthed to the frame or engine
and one last thing its worth a look if it wont light up i have a riding buddy whos bike just came to a stop once on the road just every thing died we checked the usual and after me kicking it in frustration as my mate was trying to start the bike it kicked in and started we found out that the earth on the horn had came off and earthed to the frame

never know it could be that simple

i have tested the rec and battery and they are both fine so i charged the battery over night now i will soon see what will come of this i am going to see if it looses its charge again if so then back to the drawing board

well if it loses its charge get a new battery

Why dont you just try using the battery off your other halfs lifan to see if it does the same or & try yours on hers ?
