Posted: 16:32 - 19 Jul 2010 Post subject: Gilera Coguar clutch probs. |
 |
|
I have just aquired a Gilera Coguar from a neighbour. On a '51 plate with only 1200 miles on the clock. It has been off the road for about 7 years. It got it up and running ok, now taxed & MOTd. I was having trouble getting the gearbox back into neutral with the engine running, now if I put it into gear, the engine cuts out. Any ideas? Thanks. |

if it has been standing for 7 years chances are the clutch plates have partially seized.............if you put it in gear does the clutch work correctly for all other gears? if not and it feels like there is no clutch adjust the cable etc back up as it should be then try riding it around the block in first or second as you get more heat into the gearbox and clutch assembly the clutch will prob free off ......may take a bit of persuasion they can be stuck fast. ____________________ 1990 jc20 nsr125-sold,2003 cg 125-sold currently no bike.........might get another 2 stroke me thinks much more fun |

That makes sense. The bike has only covered about 3 or 4 miles since I got it up and running again after the 7 year lay up.. I will give it a good run to really warm things up, and let you know. Thanks guys for the advice, good to know bikers still help each other out |

Op, you probably have changed the oil since you have bought the bike but if not that would also help the clutch free up if its stuck. |
