as the weather was nice round here today i took the cbr to work rather than my usual commuter the cb400. Tomorrow's forecast is rainy so i stopped in at my dads on the way back from work to pick up the super four and drop the cbr off. From my dads i set off for home (about 9 miles away) and when i arrived i noticed one of my boots looked wet and on closer inspection realised it was oil.

https://www2.bikechatforums.com/files/dsc00161.jpg

At this point i was dreading the worst and thought something serious had gone wrong, but no turns out when i checked the oil over the weekend i forgot to put something back.

https://www2.bikechatforums.com/files/dsc00162.jpg

At this point i remembered resting the cap on the hole to check the oil as it has a dipper on the cap, but i didnt remember screwing it back in, so i must have lost it somewhere along the 9 miles of road between my house and my dads, but i couldnt ride the bike any longer without a cap as the oil level was bound to be low already given the ammount that was on my boot and leg. so i had to come up with temporary replacement.

perfect
https://www2.bikechatforums.com/files/dsc00163.jpg

so i set off to find the missing cap, re-tracing my route back to my dad's but found nothing. Parked the bike back in the garage and pulled the cbr out again to use for work till i could get a new filler cap.

riding back home again, about 4 miles int the journey, i felt a pretty big bump in the road and thought 'it probably fell out here, so i slowed down and had a good scan and to my amazement it was just sat on the pavement, bingo.

https://www2.bikechatforums.com/files/dsc00164.jpg

so back to my dads swap the bikes again Confused top up with oil, cap back on and off on my way.

not really an exiting story but i dont think i have done a proper bcf story before so i though why not Laughing .

so back to m

Hm I wonder if you could eat the carrot as one end of it would effectively be fried with the engine oil still inside the engine after a nice long ride. Thinking

i dont usually find stuff i drop. i remember losing a speedo cable once over no more than a mile journey, did 4 passes back and forth and never found it.

Lost a phone a few months ago, again over no more than a mile of road and never found that. Turns out someone picked it up and started texting my bosses wife with sexual advances Laughing

This photo seems set up to me Thinking

You would'nt find a cap on the floor, photograph it, then pick it up.
You would have first picked it up to make sure it was yours, and then must have put it back down for its big photo opportunity. Razz

FRAUD!

Laughing Loving the carrot as a filler cap!

I once had a bit of grit trapped under the rocker cover washers on my Bandit - creating a fine mist of spray. First I knew of it was when I got home to find my right knee absolutely covered!
