How do I move a game save (Red Dead Redemption) off my old xbox onto my new (250GB) xbox?

I have already set up a live profile on the new one and the profile my save game is on, on the old xbox, doesn't have live.

Any help would be much appreciated. Ta Thumbs Up

Ermmmm have you got the small portable memory card. You can save the game to your old HDD, plug that into new xbox, save to the memory card, swap old HDD for new HDD and save from memory card to HDD lol.

There must be an easier way to do this lol.

By the sounds of it you're trying to move a save game from one gamertag to the another?

If so it can't be done (legitimately).

If it's the same account, it's just a case of sticking a USB pen drive into the source console and then copying the save to it, then sticking it in the new console.

You can get xbox data transfer cables which copy everything from your old hard drive to your new one.

I do have a memory card, however this is only compatable with the old xbox - not the new xbox (same with the hard drive).

The new xbox can read and write to a usb stick, the old xbox can only read a usb stick - it can't write to one.

The save game is on a non xbox live profile on the old xbox. I already have set up a new profile (with xbox live) on the new xbox.

Microsoft support are absolutely no support whatsoever (as they have a poor grasp of the english language).

I am getting the feeling that this is not possible Crying or Very sad

I could get the cable but would this still allow me to play the save game on my new xbox live profile (or would I have to transfer the old - without live - profile to my new xbox too)?

Ok got a usb stick (£25!), updated dashboard, recognised usb stick, can see in memory tab on dashboard on both xboxes when plugged in.

Tried to copy save RDR game from old xbox (which are on a non live profile) but would not allow me to copy it or move it to usb stick, giving message, game saves cannot be moved between profiles.

Copied the (non xbox live) profile fine from old xbox and put it on new xbox. It didn't take any saved games with the profile - it just copied the profile.

FFS what's the point of copying a profile if you can't move the saved games on that profile to another xbox?

Any ideas?

Why did you make a new profile? If you copy the old one across you can then use that one to connect to Xbox Live. You keep your achievements and everything that way.

When you sign in with your profile isn't there a button that says "Join Xbox Live" or something similar?

I made a new profile when I got the new xbox cos I was excited and (with hindsight) silly. I guess there's no way of swapping the subscription from the new profile I created, to the old profile, with my RDR game save on it?

The profile with the RDR game save attached to it, on the old xbox, doesn't have a Live subscription (another - my kids - profile is on the old xbox which does have a live subscription on it).

I am happy to have this profile (without a subscription) copied over to the new xbox just so I can continue my RDR game on that (without Live or achievements). It's not alot to ask, god knows why they've made this impossible, it's not like I'm pirating a game or modding the thing.

You know you can "recover" a gamertag from one xbox to another in about 5 mins.

Why not recover your old one onto the new one (so you have 2 profiles on your new one), then copy over the data.

It's alright - sussed it. Have to copy profile onto USB first, the copy save games WHILE PROFILE IS ON USB (if it isn't, it will not copy). Then copy profile on to new xbox. Log on to it. Then copy game saves on to new xbox (if you are not logged into the profile it will not copy them off the USB).

Okay I still have my gamesaves on a non xbox live profile but that's my own silly fault, I should have copied over the profile on to the new xbox then got xbox live on that profile rather than creating anew one - oh well just got RDR on this one. Any new ones I can start on Live profile.

Thumbs Up Very Happy Karma for all !
