Hello all, as great as the Hornet is, it lacks a simple feature called a clock (amongst other things).

A while back I had an Oxford clock on my old XR125 which was great, but it went with the bike.

However I can't seem to find the same clock again and it seems everywhere is selling the updated version which is £20 - seems alot of money for a little clock.

I know some people use old watches but I can't find one of those either. I am also limited on space on the dash.

What do you guys use if you don't have a factory clock?

How can Busters charge 4.99 to post a tiny clock like that? Does it matter that the watch isn't waterproof? Failing that I could affix a sun dial to the pillion seat.

It's water resistant, which is good enough for £3.59.

I use a Casio watch, waterproof with backlight for night riding, stuck onto the steering head bolt with a velcro strip.

The velcro can be got at Wilkinsons for about £1 and it holds the watch on no problems. My bike is naked and the watch stays on at 100+.

If the designer of that honda could see his dashboard like that he'd cry himself to sleep! Ha ha!

My CBR6 had something very similar, it was the old oxford rectangle one, unfortunately one day I got to eork and it had vanished!

I've had several of those Argos cheapo Casios down the years. Tend to go for the next one up, £7.95, for the alarm, stopwatch, EL backlight etc. Probably not as important on a bike. The water resistance is actually pretty good - I've had weeks where I've not taken it off but it's followed me through shower, rainy walks, dunks in the swimming pool etc (finally stopped that when it and my wrist started to ming). I've *never* had one die on me, despite awful treatment.

What tends to happen is the nasty rubbery strap gradually splits apart after a couple of years, and it's actually about as expensive to just replace the watch as get a new strap put on. So I've ended up with a few of the orphaned main units scattered about, in cupboards, in boxes of miscellany on spare-room shelves, in man-drawers etc. Finally stopped bothering with them once I had a mobile that showed the time, but every now and then of a weekend mid-morning or afternoon I can hear a random alarm start beeping... so even though one of the culprits was probably bought 10 years ago, it's still kicking on its original battery (certified for something like 5 or 7 years). They're hardcore.

In fact having read this, I believe it may find a natural home between the dials on the CG...
