Inspired by a recent thread I wanted to know what 'interesting rules' there are for motoGP/superbike racing.

I knew nothing (and wasn't interested) in Formula 1 /Grand Prix until i watched it with a mate who explained all the intersting rules such as 'they can only try and block an overtake once' and 'they can only have 2 sets of tyres per race' 'they have to let people overtake if they have lapped them'......the little things that make you think 'ah i didn't realise that before!' and make it more interesting to watch.

PS-sorry i'm a noob at this but would love to get into it and i don't want to read the entire rules and regs of the race!

Watch the last 3 races of a season and the first 3 of the next season and all the rules will pretty much be announced then.

Motogp or F1

Ok i will Thumbs Up

But are there any nuggets of information you can give without having to wait for the announcements?

Also i'm sure i saw a list (channels/dates) of bike races on TV on the forum. I've had a search but can't find it. Any ideas?

Thanks again,

Crowe

Valentino Rossi is allowed to shoot a welshman with a Bow and Arrow if he's inside the city walls of Chester after midnight.

Just because he's a riding god.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Ah rite.

He's also allowed to shoot Jorge Lorenzo for being a personality-less creep and Casey Stoner for not acknowledging he was given a good run by a man with only one working leg. But only with a Bazooka.

They get a limited number of sets per race meeting, so these must cover friday practice, saturday practice, qualifying and the race. They may use as many as they like in the race, but obviously it's a balancing act as without practice laps you won't have the setup for the race. There are a harder and softer set of tyres picked from the list:

Hard
Medium
Soft
Super Soft

The 2 compounds selected must be 2 apart on the list, so this weeks race is Medium & super soft. Both must be used during the race, but a driver can stop and change as many times as they want, but obviously they will be using old tyres unless they saved sets. If it rains the rule goes out the window and they can use what they like.

The full set of rules can be found here:

https://www.formula1.com/inside_f1/

I've never read them, but i know most of them from them coming up at various points.

Anybody remember schumacher getting a drive through penalty at silverstone, them not informing the team in the regulation 20 minutes, him having 3 laps to comply with only 3 laps of the race remaining. So he pulled into the pits on the last lap crossing the finishing line in the pits and winning the race. There are so many grey areas and loop holes due to there only being a few races a year
