Hello....

I hope this is the right section to be posting an introduction....

I am a complete newbie to the real world of biking.....been doing it for years in theory......I used to have a big biker mag collection under the bed and beside the armchair where I did most of my theoretical biking....

However things have changed just a tad.....I am now the proud owner of a Swiss registered '83 Yamaha XV750 SE.....but there is the rub....my XV is a tad poorly and hasn't run at all for 5 years or more....it was a gift from a well meaning former employer......so I need to accumulate some readies so I can throw some the XV's way....I would love to chop it too, but thats a future thing perhaps. And then theres the fact that I don't have a bike licence yet!

Not bad bikes, Raf off here had one, that I rode a fair bit. Obviously not the quickest thing around but the gearbox and shaft were very nice and smooth.

We will of course help you to sort the bike out in any way possible, but an accurate description of the problem / problems will be needed.

Thanks DaFrostyOne....

When I get around to finding out exactly what the problems are I will ofcourse let you and others know what ails the XV....all I know at the moment is that apart from needing a new battery the starter motor is not functioning as it should; which I believe is a common occurance with this model.

The guy who gave me the bike had lost the ignition keys so I bought a new ignition off of ebay...I have fitted it; but thats as far as I have got....I bought a Haynes manual for it as well....

Haynes manual is an excellent place to start. Go through the stuff in the front and give it a 5000 mile service before thinking problems are more complicated than they might be Wink
