Hey guys..

If you have a fuel injected hornet 600...perhaps you can answer some questions Mr. Green

Low end grunt, is there a decent supply of low end from these?

ABS, does this work/feel any different to standard brakes?

All help is appreciated Karma Thumbs Up

ABS would stop the wheels locking if you over did the braking. You won't notice it otherwise. Basically it lets the brakes off momentarily to allow the wheel to continue turning rather than sliding. Most riders would stop quicker and safer in most emergencies with ABS.

ABS won't be noticeable unless you get something very wrong, then it will do it's best to save your skin, literally Laughing

IL4's aren't amazing for low end grunt, but unless you're a fat bastard who lives in the hills it's unlikely to be an issue.

ABS system on the Hornets is a far older design than the new one Honda have on the CBR600RR/Fireblade.

For me buy one with proper brakes. Tried ABS on a CBF600 which uses the same system and it wasn't great. The brakes generally felt weak, although this could have just been a duff courtesy bike.

I had a 2007 FI with ABS, I've also ridden a courtesy one without ABS

The brakes do NOT feel weaker at all on the ABS version, if anything the rear brake feels stronger as it also applies 1 piston on the front as well.

The ABS is however an older generation than the current sports ABS, and it noticeable when it kicks in (It judders).

The low down grunt is there, but not really that different from that years CBR 600RR (The engine is a detuned version of that years RR) There is less top end and a little more low and middle end grunt.

Overall I loved that bike, it was well balanced and a pleasure to ride.

If it hadn't been written off I'd still have it now Smile
(If you get one and go for the gold one I've got a spare tank and rear seat cowl Wink )

ETA: Yes the new shape one

Not for me guys Laughing
Its for a friend at work Thumbs Up karma given, great so far.

Ideally looking for the low end rapid acceleration, you know the type where you can be in 5th at 30, give it the beans and it just powers on up there.

More a sit up/speed four/hornet style...rather than arse in air sports Laughing

Sorry to disappoint, but if you roll on in 5th @ 30 you won't be going anywhere for a while, it does have low end grunt, but not enough for that

You have to admit to owning one though... Sick

Why is he too lazy to just change gears? I don't get on a bike just to open the throttle and be boring.

Not really Wink.
A bit quicker than an inline 4 600 possibly, but that's probably more down to gearing that range of power.
In my experience, range of power tends to be mostly related to the size of the engine, not the number of cylinders, however less cylinders generally means lower gearing, which means like for like you'll generally get more pull at the same speed.
