I'm after a CBR F Sport (as the title suggests) but need it restricting to 33bhp. I know most people will say not to bother, but i'd prefer not to risk it for now. At least use some of the restriction period legally etc.

I've asked someone at a honda dealership and they said they restrict them with the throttle. Which would be awful Laughing My GSR was restricted via ECU which worked pretty well. So that'd be preferable.

It's fuel injected so i think it ought to be an ECU, apparently they do them but i'm not 100% sure. Does anyone on here know if it's possible?

Thanks, and Karma in return.

It would be a throttle stop and blade type restrictors in the air intakes Wink

Slightly unrelated but your comment that a throttle stop would be awful made me wonder why.
I havn't sat and thought about it long enough but would it reduce the speed at which the bike is able to deliver up to 33bhp, aswell as restricting max power (with the assistance of air restriction)?

i believe you can buy the resicted ecu's, but they do require some other bits fitting too. have you checked ebay for one?

I've also heard of power commander type things with variable power maps? (including 33bhp) but i'm not sure :/

The crap thing about that is, I believe, that it would potentially lower it's max torque as well? Naturally the restriction is going to hobble the top end, but if it kills the midrange as well, you'll lose a lot of tractibility.

It's something that would need to be tested though, as this is another one the things I've wondered about for a while but haven't the resources to check... is there a point in the rev range below which using WOT is pointless or even counterproductive?

I know my CG definitely dies below roughly 3000rpm unless you close the throttle up some, but it's got a really simple carburettor so this may be atypical ... the cars I've driven seem to exhibit some sign that there's no difference between e.g. 50 and 100% pedal travel at lower rpms, but the poor thrust at those speeds means its hard to tell the difference anyway, or whether it's still in effect at peak torque rpm. If it is, then throttle limiting isn't that bad, it'll just "feel" wrong. But certainly safer once it's removed, and you'll know you're calling on more than what was originally available by your hand going round further, instead of snapping it open to where you normally do and the bike responding a lot more eagerly than your muscle memory had become used to.
