Hello, was wondering if anyone knew whether a motorbikes NCB can be carried forward for when applying for car insurance the next year?

For instance, if for the first year i wanted to ride a motorbike then thought this isn't quite for me and sold the bike. Would I be able to carry forward that NCB for that year onto a car? Would this depend on insurance provider or am I talking nonsense?

Also on TPFT are NCB's given, or only on fully comp?

Thanks in advance to someone who knows more about this stuff! Very Happy

I dont know the full details to be honest mate, but i can tell you that some providers will accept. i think tesco is one of them, but im not 100% sure.

your best bet is to ring up and find out, they will usuall sort something out. and i thought you gained a ncb from any policy? although could be wrong again!

Some companies will consider your NC on Cars in their risk factor. However they will not accept this as no claims bonus for your Bike.

Insurance companies rightly or wrongly (Wrongly in my opinion) classify them as two completely different things.

No. They are classified as two separate entities.

To me its a bonus, otherwise you would have to notify them of bike accidents...which would make me uninsurable on a car.

They don't if you crash or get points.
For example, if you don't wear a helmet on your bike you get 3 points.
Insurance company thinks you might forget wearing your helmet in the car as well. So your car premium goes up.
It is like if you rob a bank you are quite likely to rape someone. Even if you are a woman...

You do have to advise on motorcycle accidents - read the small print on your insurance (or just ask them).
