Honda xr 125 mileage

Evening All

I've been looking at enduro style 125's as I fancy something that I could try a spot of green laning on as well as commuting. It needs to be something relatively cheap as money is tight at the moment.

I've found a Honda xr 125 nearby for £800 which should be just in budget after a bit of haggling, its only had the 1 owner is a 2005 bike with 17,000 miles on it, is that a bit on the high side or is it no problem with Honda reliability?

Anyone got/had one and got anything to say about them?

CG-ish engine, fairly bullet proof!
Exact engine from the Honda CLR125, i had one, crashed 7 times before it finally died...only because it shattered the engine

First bike after that accident was an XR125 for off roading, pulled small-ish wheelies, wasnt too slow..but handles ok for an off roader, couldnt comment for on road really.

My CLR125 was on 22,000 and still strong as anything

Just do the oil and get it serviced every now and then...all/most 125s miss this luxury!

I'm after an XR 125 aswell, the prices they are going for around here you can get one with 4000 miles or less for £1,000.

I'd say 17,000 miles is slightly high but if it's been serviced and had regular oil changes can't see it as being much of a problem. Would definately try and knock some more of the price if you can... Perhaps say the chain / sprockets look a bit worn?

I've got a 2003 Honda XR 125L and its done just over 23,000 miles and runs perfectly.

Although from previous owners leaving it our in the bad weather its a little rusty in parts and exhaust is leaking a little it's great. (Nothing a bit of paint can fix up)

Anyhow, Honda has the reputation of reliable bikes and proven it on many occasions so 1,000 miles or 30,000 miles, should run just fine
